“There are plenty of fruit trees on the hills next to our villa. You don’t need to bring fruit home,” Hestia said, assuming Jacob bought the
cherries for her.
Jacob paused, then put down the bag of cherries. He took one from the bag and offered it to Hestia. Seeing her grandson being so considerate, Hestia graciously accepted and ate the cherry.
“Is it sweet?”
“It’s sweet with a hint of tartness. Is it Bing cherry?” Hestia didn’t particularly like cherries, but she knew the cherry varieties well.
There were several fruit hills next to their villa, one of which had a
dozen cherry trees at its base. During the cherry season, the orchard manager would bring fresh cherries for the family to taste.
“These cherries are from Lo’s wife’s orchards, picked just today. I thought they were quite good.”
“Lo’s wife?” The two women immediately caught onto the key detail.
Hestia pressed, “Jacob, tell us. Who is Lo’s wife?”
Jacob remained silent. Hestia and Joslin were both anxious now, urging him to speak.
“Lo secretly got married. Now that I’ve exposed the matter, I’m afraid. he’ll blame me for being a blabbermouth.”
“Don’t worry. If anything happens, I stand by you! I guarantee your cousin won’t lay a finger on you.”
Hestia knew all her grandchildren both respected and feared Logan. As the family’s matriarch, she was the only one who could handle Logan, and that was enough.

“How did you find out?” Hestia asked. This happened yesterday, and given Logan’s character, he wouldn’t have told Jacob if he were still hiding it from the family elders.
A fleeting tenderness passed through Jacob’s eyes, though the two women didn’t catch it. He replied, “Ms. Lynch and Lo’s wife have been close friends since childhood. They share everything. I overheard their conversation and confirmed my suspicion by buying cherries as an excuse.”
“Tell me her name. I’d like to visit my granddaughter–in–law tomorrow.”
She had been worried about this matter just moments ago. She never expected her eldest grandson to have a flash marriage yesterday, ending his bachelorhood.
Hestia now felt like buying a truckload of fireworks to celebrate. Finally, one of her grandchildren had married off! It certainly hadn’t been easy!
