The signed note
“What are you doing?” Getting in the car, she questioned Mark when he held her to sit on his lap.
“I missed you.” He said trailing kisses along her neck.
“Mark stop, I have to get back to work. My friends will get suspicious.” She giggled trying to get up pushing him away. “There are people outside Mark, please stop.” She pleaded, glancing out of the window. James and the driver were a few feet from the car.
“Okay, one kiss. Then I’ll let you go back to work.” He persuaded her, running his hand in her hair massaging her scalp as he placed the other hand under her skirt. Folding her inner thighs, he moved up making her quiver as she patted her legs for him.
“Mm!” moaning, she kissed his cheek playfully. “That’s enough.” She bit her lower lip while running her hand over his chest.
“Not quite.” He groaned, pulling her close to feel the effect she had on him.
Gazing deep into his eyes she parted her lips invitingly as she put her arms around his neck, straddling him. Fumbling with their clothes, he lifted her, positioning her on top as he drove in.
“Mmm- ahh aaahh!” Closing her eyes, she moaned as he guided her along.
“Love you..” Breathless he whispered trailing kisses down her neck.
“You’re so bad. I can’t believe you made me do this.” Panting, she complained, hiding her face on his shoulder.
“Ha ha!” He laughed, blushing the strand of hair from her face.
“You’re laughing at me, huh!” Slowly she raised her head to gaze at him.
“No, I’m just happy you’re with me. Don’t feel shy.” Holding her face in his palm he lightly kissed her red swollen lips.
“How will I get back to the office?” Looking out the window, she asked frantically buttoning her shirt.
“No one is around.” He murmured, pulling her back in his arms. “James went back to the office and the driver will get back only when I call him. So don’t worry our secret is safe.”
“Stop, I need to go.” Giggling as he placed wet kisses down her neck, she pushed him back. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“Okay!”
Dropping his hands from her waist, he let her go.
They dressed in a hurry.
“See you tonight.” Running her hands in his hair, he gave him a lingering kiss.
Fifteen minutes later she walked back into the building straightening her clothes looking around to see if there was anyone in the parking lot.
“What?” Walking into the office, Melissa questioned Nancy who sat staring at her.
“You surely took your time.” Nancy slurred twirling in her chair.
“I bumped into an old friend at the reception.” Glancing at Jenifer, Melissa tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
“I’m not involving myself in your argument. I’m waiting for Mr. Johnson’s wedding gift.” Jenifer shook her head at Melissa fixing her gaze on the open door. “What do you think he is going to give us?” She questioned glancing at Melissa.
“I have no idea. Why are you asking me?” The two ladies looked at her, curiosity written all over their faces.
Just then the receptionist called, asking Jenifer to get her message from the front desk.
A few minutes later she got to the office with a white envelope.
“Is that a gift from Mr. Johnson?” Nancy asked.
“Yes, let’s see what’s inside.” Jenifer eagerly opened the envelope and a piece of paper fell.
Picking it up, Melissa looked at her signature scribed on the piece of paper for a while. Earlier, Mark had asked her to sign the paper but he never said it was part of the gift offered to Jenifer. Now she had to prevent them from seeing it. She couldn’t risk them finding out she was his fiancee.
The note in her hand, she glanced at them and before they saw it, she tacked the note in a file on the desk.
He gave them two first class plane tickets and a hotel reservation for their honeymoon.
“You have the honeymoon all set.” Nancy grinned while going through the hotel brochure. “Love this resort. Look at all the activities there.” She showed it to Jenifer.
“Never expected this, the wedding is so rushed I didn’t even plan on having a honeymoon.” Her eyes sparkled as she grinned at Nancy.
“He is quite thoughtful, right? I’ll get married soon too if these are the gifts people receive.” Nancy said feeling envious.
“Melissa, are you okay?” Jenifer questioned, noticing how anxious she looked.
“Me? I’m.. I’m fine. Are you not leaving early to get your dresses for tomorrow?” She inquired, trying to get them out of the office.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Jenny, I’m hitching a ride with you.” Nancy rushed to get her things in order. “Melissa aren’t you coming?”
“No, I have to finish up first.” She sat on her chair eyeing the folder hoping they would leave soon.
“Melissa, have you seen the note that was in the envelope?” Jenifer asked, checking the envelope and around the table again.
“No, I’ve not seen any note. Was there a note?” Melissa responded looking at the folder.
“Jenny, we have to go. I can’t afford to miss my appointment.” Standing at the doorway, Nancy tapped her foot occasionally checking her wristwatch.
“I need the note.” Jenifer bit her lower lip checking the envelope for the fourth time. “Aston won’t believe who paid for our honeymoon if I don’t show it to him. Argh! where did I drop it?” She looked around her feet but found nothing.
“Look Jenny, go when I see the note I’ll keep it safe for you or Nancy will go crazy if she misses her salon reservation.” Melissa urged her to leave hoping she would convince Mark to sign another note without her signature on it.
Breathing a sigh of relief watching them leave the office, she walked to Nancy’s desk to get the note.
“Hey, I forgot this.” As she neared the desk, Nancy hurriedly entered the office taking the folder before her.
“Are you going with the file?” She inquired watching her ready to leave.
“Yes, I need to get some information for my meeting tomorrow. Why? You look dismayed.” She asked, standing at the doorway.
“No, it’s nothing. See you tomorrow at the ceremony.” Melissa responded getting back to her desk.
When they left, she sat there praying they didn’t recognize the second set of signatures was hers. If they found out she was not honest with them then they will be disappointed and probably never trust her again.
….
“Did you see how strange Melissa was acting just now?” Nancy asked Jenifer while buckling her seatbelt.
“Yes, she seemed awfully disturbed.” Jenifer replied, starting the engine. “What with the file? Do you have a meeting today?” She inquired driving off.
“I need some client information for my meeting tomorrow morning.” Nancy explained opening the folder. A snowy white piece of paper fell as she went through the files. “What is this?” Nancy asked picking it up.
“That’s the note I was looking for. I was not crazy thinking I saw a signed note there. How did it get in your folder?”
Nancy remembered seeing Melissa pick something up when Jenifer opened the envelope but she was too excited to bother. “Wait, I think Melissa put it here.”
“Why would she? Yet she denied seeing any note.” Jenifer stated, concentrating on driving.
Mouth agape eyes wide open, Nancy looked at the congratulations note. “This.” She showed the signature to Jenifer. “It’s Melissa’s signature! Why did she sign the note with Mr. Johnson?” She looked at Jenifer who didn’t seem as surprised as she was. “No, she can’t be engaged to him, is she?” Nancy spoke, questioning herself.
“I suspected she was keeping something from us. Earlier today when I saw her step out from a car driven by one of Mr. Johnson’s drivers, I confirmed it. But I never thought she was engaged to him.” Jenifer revealed, shaking her head.
“She chose to keep this all to herself? But why would she lie? I thought we were good friends. She made me look stupid suggesting she and Mr. Johnson should get together when they are already proposed.” Nancy clenched her fist in range.
“It’s her private life, we can’t fault her for not feeling comfortable sharing with us, besides everyone including you believed that celebrity girl was his fiancee.”
“Oh!” Nancy said in realization. “That Sasha will have a fit when she finds out. I get why Melissa would keep it a secret but I’m not talking to her again until she apologizes for humiliating me.” Nancy pouted her mouth looking out the window.
Packing at the mall, Jenifer sighed taking her congratulations note then glancing at her dramatic friend.
