Chapter 41 Take me home
Opula had danced with Ruby and was tired, so she whispered to him at once, “Can we have a seat? I am tired. Ruby looked at her suspiciously and smiled.
Soon they were seated at the VIP lounge and their orders were supplied. Opula had gone for fruit wine this time not wanting what happened between her and Fanny to repeat itself. She wanted to be conscious this time to see and know everything that happened around her. Ruby had heavy wine and along the line brought out his cigar to smoke.
“Do you smoke?” asked Opula.
Ruby shook his head, “Yes I do. Do you have issues with that?”
“No,” she replied, and pounced on her spicy pasta. “Are you married?” she asked and wondered if she had ever asked a man such question.
“Yes but divorced. Way back in New York when I was still in school. I married this beautiful girl that I fell in love with.”
“So why divorced? If you loved her and she loved you why divorce?” Opula asked, stealing a glance at his hairy chest that pulled her.
“Well most divorce doesn’t happen because there is no love. Sometimes it happens because of priorities and impatience. My ex wife didn’t have the patience. She wanted life on a fast lane. She wanted everything to happen at once; the wealth, children, expensive vacation and all that. I was still a student with little or nothing to give to her, so she called it a quit.”
Opula stared at him pitifully and said, “It’s a pity. But such is life. Look at you now.”
“Yeah such is life. I know some day you are gonna be a strong wealthy woman too. What about you? Are you married?” he asked her and smoked on.
“No I am not married, have never been married,” she replied and wondered who would have such a cute man like him and still applied for divorce.
“So am I free to fill in the space?” he asked smiling.
Opula laughed and stared at him nervously, “No, Fanny will kill you as soon as he is back from Japan,”
Ruby started thinking; should I spill the beans? Should I tell her that her lover gave her up for one month as a result of losing out in the chase game? I can’t pretend I like her and I wonder what we will be doing in this one month when we are not blood siblings? I don’t care how Fanny takes it. I know it will damage his reputation and love she has for him. But it is a game and I wonder why he gave up a gorgeous woman like this instead of paying the ransom?
“He will do nothing if he returns and finds out we are in love,” he replied her and stole a glance at her big breasts that resembled two ripened paw-paw fruit being held in a transparent sack.
Opula looked at him to search for the seriousness on his face; if he actually meant all his words and not joking. “Won’t that be betrayal? Won’t he hunt you I mean us?” she asked him.
Ruby smiled, “Love is a thing of the heart. Listen to your heart and follow its rhythm,” Ruby said and brought out another cigar to light.
Opula was plunged to ask again, “Why would he leave me with you as though I am some kid that can’t take care of herself. For chrissake, I am grown up, a complete adult. I don’t like the way he treats me. Money intoxicates.”
Ruby dimmed his eyes, and drew his cigar, “of a truth money intoxicates. He doesn’t want any harm on you. He wants the best for you.” Ruby picked up his phone and pretended he wanted to make a call. “Excuse me can I make a call?”
“Oh yeah you can,” she replied, and watched him walk away to the rear balcony. He was well built and cute front and back. His rear shoulders carved with thickness and his trousers couldn’t cover his muscular legs which he threw with strange manliness as he walked.
Ruby wasn’t out to make any call. He wanted to reason which decision to take; they had been playing that game of chase for years now so he wondered why he was falling in love with Fanny’s girlfriend. He had come to realize Opula was the kind of woman he would love to walk down the aisle and remain ever with. She was not just gorgeous but outstanding in character and principles. He knew something was going to bind him to Opula and in this one month their love would thicken and he wondered what would become of Fanny and his friendship with him. Would they be a war between the both of them and would the rest of the boys see him as a betrayal; I don’t care what they say. I love her. I will face the music and prove my love. If I die I die. I never expected love to happen to me at this time of my life but then I am hooked to this damsel. I have never seen a woman so beautiful yet with a pure heart.
“What is eating you up?” asked Opula from behind.
He was startled at once as he turned to look at her. “Nothing, just trying to answer the call and smoke in your absence. I know you don’t like smokers.”
“Yes I don’t, and before I return to Fanny in one month I will help you quit smoking, OK?” she said.
Ruby shook his head, and squashed the one he was smoking under his feet. “Let’s start from here.”
“My eyes are heavy with sleep. Please take me home.”
“Home?” asked Ruby.
“Yes your home,” she said coldly and knew things weren’t ordinary again for them. She had never asked Fanny to take her home…she wished she could resist the charm clouding her mind and keep to herself until Fanny retruned from his trip.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
