It was funny when she said it.
Unexpectedly, just then, I heard a muffled chuckle not far behind me. Startled, I turned around to see a man with a crooked smile on his face, leaning casually against the wall in a leather jacket. He teased, “Mrs. Valence, you’ve got quite a taste.”
Caught eavesdropping, I felt a pang of guilt but quickly shrugged it off. “Aren’t you doing the same?”
He grinned, “I was just trying not to interrupt your entertainment.
“Well, you just did, I retorted, eyeing him inquisitively. “Who are you, and why do you know me?”
“Jerry Hammer.” The man replied, straightening up and shedding his casual demeanor. “See you around, Mrs. Valence.”
With that, he walked over, pinching Kimberly’s check, and sarcastically said, “Kimberly Harris, you can’t even tell who
the real Mrs. Valence is. You are not a home wrecker material.”
Kimberly glared at him. “Jerry! What do you mean?”
Jerry let go of her and cast me a meaningful glance. Just when I thought he was going to reveal my identity, he merely clapped his hands. “I mean you are stupid.”
I was a bit surprised.
I went through the list of notable rich kids in Jacquar in my head, but none of them were named Jerry. But anyone who could dress in a casual suit at Mrs. Patel’s 80th birthday party and still look at ease in such a setting couldn’t be an
ordinary person.
Just as those thoughts swirled in my mind, my phone rang. “Where are you?” Christopher’s indifferent voice crackled through the line.”
I smirked, replying, “In the first–floor bathroom. Just watched one of your lovers corner another.”
“What lover? I’ll be right there!” Christopher’s tone grew colder, and he found me shortly after.
When I saw him, Lsaid regretfully, “You are late. They just finished. Otherwise, you could have stepped in
sweetheart.”

“Hope Royston, Christopher frowned, scrutinizing me deeply as if trying to find some emotion on my face, but he was disappointed. “Do you really not care?”
That question stung. I did care. Not for Christopher, but for myself.
Over three years of marriage, the countless nights of estrangement between Christopher and me, the times he had left me for Evelyn, and the moment I lost our baby… All these heart–wrenching pains, I had endured them alone.

How could I not feel hurt?
I stifled my emotions, pinched my palm lightly, and managed a faint smile. “Yeah, we’re about to split. What’s left to care about?
Christopher clenched his jaw, seized my wrist, and growled, “You got a knack for staying in line! Come with me to congratulate Mrs. Patel.”
“Okay,” I agreed without any emotion. After all, we wouldn’t last long now. Accompanying Christopher for these formalities didn’t matter.
Knowing Cecil’s history with the Patel family, I wasn’t enthusiastic when offering my congratulation. Christopher noticed my detachment and, after handing over the gift, led me back to the main hall.
He sneered, “Feeling pitiful over Cecil’s run–in with his family?”
“Can’t I?” I retorted.
Having lost the baby and all hope, I wasn’t scared of anything anymore.
Christopher’s gaze was icy, his lips twisting into a cold smirk. “He’s marrying Kimberly Harris. You really think you’ve still got a shot with him?”
Kimberly Harris? I quickly scanned the crowd and pointed, “Her?”
Christopher’s annoyance grew; he mocked, “You’re quite the observant one!”
I chuckled, “No. She was hassling Evelyn Valence today. Christopher, shouldn’t she be your… I don’t know, third wife?”
Christopher’s brow furrowed tightly. “That’s impossible.
“Why not? If you don’t believe me, ask Evelyn Valence. As soon as I said that, I realized Evelyn had been missing for a while. I scanned the hall and noticed Charlie was also
gone.
A thought flashed through my mind, and I quickly said, “I have a stomachache; need to hit the restroom!”
Clutching my stomach, I darted towards the restroom.
The vastness of the manor was daunting. After fruitless searching, I headed for the backyard, since the upper floors were reserved for the hosts and regular guests wouldn’t venture there.
Charlie and Evelyn had either left or were somewhere in the yard.
The biting cold drove everyone inside to network, leaving the yard empty. As I tiptoed around, doubt gnawed at me- surely, they wouldn’t stoop so low at someone else’s party.
Just as I was about to retreat, I heard a ‘cat’s meow. Thinking a guest had let the host’s cat out, I aimed to help. But then I caught Charlie’s heavy, ragged breathing, coming from behind some dense bushes.
“Relax, no one will come out. I’ll be quick.” It was Charlie’s voice.

Evelyn’s voice was hushed and desperate, nearly sobbing. “Dad! This is too risky. If Christopher finds out, that’s the end of us!”
My heart pounded as I ran into someone having sex out in the open for the first time. Holding my breath, I fumbled to- start recording on my phone. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
For the first time spying on someone doing such a thing, my heart was pounding. I hurriedly opened my phone to record and instinctively held my breath!
“You are just too hot today. Don’t worry, no one’s crazy enough to brave this cold. Besides, it’s more thrilling this way,” Charlie said, ravenously kissing her. “Don’t you see? That brat never plans to divorce. He is never going to marry you.”
Evelyn moaned, trying to push him away but ultimately succumbing, “What should I do? I only want to marry him. Dad, can’t you figure something out?”
That was mind blowing.
“Evelyn, am I not enough for you?” Charlie thrust harder, slapping Evelyn’s butt. “Christopher, that brat, doesn’t even want to touch you. You should give up on him.”
1,2,3… I was still counting when Charlie suddenly ceased movement, holding Evelyn.
Well, that was quick. He wasn’t kidding.
‘I didn’t miss the look of disgust on Evelyn’s face. Charlie, now regaining his composure after sex, coaxed, “We’ll talk at home. I haven’t congratulated Mrs. Patel yet. Heading back in.”
“Wait for me!” Evelyn scowled, hurriedly fixing her thong and dress. With no time to escape, I hid behind a large tree, holding my breath.
Fortune favored me with the dim lighting and biting cold. Evelyn trailed Charlie back inside, muttering angrily. Once the door shut, I exhaled deeply, patting my chest.
Even though I wasn’t the guilty one, I felt like I had done something wrong.
“Mrs. Valence, indulging in some live entertainment, I see.” A casual voice emerged from behind another tree. I wasn’t alone!
Jerry, shamelessly indifferent to spying, grinned at me. “Recording for later??
