Chapter 238
"No need, but thanks."
A girl with short hair tugged on her mother's hand, "Mom, I told you to stop snooping around."
Somewhat embarrassed, the short-haired girl turned to Lemira and said, "Hi, I'm Janice. Don't mind what my mom said, okay?" "It's fine."
Lemira had already decided she wouldn't reveal her connection to the Langstons, and would only announce that her parents were no longer around. Another girl came over to greet, "I'm Clara Jones, an only child. I'm used to being by myself, so hopefully, you guys won't be too noisy or disturb me."
Lemira and Janice exchanged glances, silently agreeing that Clara might be a tough person to get along with.
Their dorm was meant for four, but the last roommate hadn't shown up yet, leaving everyone curious about who it might be.
That evening, the supervisor asked everyone to gather in the lecture hall for a meeting.
On their way there, Lemira and her new roommates was heading to the hall; there were many students on the way.
Suddenly, there was a stir among the crowd. A group of students in blue uniforms appeared, each moving with an air of undeniable confidence.
"Who are they?" Janice asked, puzzled.
Clara boasted, "Don't you know? They're from Orvin University's Business School. All of them are rich kids with powerful connections. They're way out of our league, not someone we can trifle with!"Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Lemira saw Evelina among them and commented indifferently, "They're just here for the Orvin University diploma."
"Lemira, don't make the comments randomly when you have no idea. Getting into Orvin University's Business School isn't something just anyone can do. You need the board's approval based on your family status and contributions to the school." Clara explanation, drew the attention of students around them.
Feeling the gaze of her peers, Clara continued to show off, "And these heirs and heiresses? They don't even need a diploma. They're here to network, but that has nothing to do with us." en
Lemira was surprised to learn about the inner workings of the Business School.
No wonder Evelina could be here; it must have been Asher pulling some strings. After all, Asher was rumored to be dating a girl from a prominent family in Orvin, likely helping Evelina gain admission behind the scene.
Once the uniform-clad group entered the building, the rest of the students, decked out in clothes different from them, slowly dispersed.
Lemira didn't dwell on Evelina's situation; she had plenty on her plate and no time to pay attention to those gossips.
After all, she had severed ties with the Langstons and wanted nothing to do with them.
Settling into a seat in the large lecture hall, Lemira listened as the supervisor went over important details for the new term and added everyone to a class group chat. Once Lemira joined the group, she noticed many people there were chatting. Someone in the chat posted a photo, "Who's this beauty? Need her contact info." "Wow, she's gorgeous. Could be our belle!"
Janice gazed at Lemira, "Someone in the chat is asking for your contact info."
Clara, sounding a bit jealous, warned, "Lemira, don't bother with them. Don't give out your contact info."
Lemira saw the chat messages and simply smiled, not taking it seriously.
Her thoughts suddenly drifted to Orion. If he was pursuing someone else, maybe it was time for her to start anew too. The idea made her feel somewhat melancholic. As the meeting ended and everyone headed out, the crowd suddenly parted at the staircase.
The group of privileged students in uniforms made their way down. Lemira stopped like others, noticing that group of people's arrogance clear for all to see, not bothering to regard anyone else.
At the sight of Lemira, Evelina's eyes lit up with exhilaration. Evelina whispered to Susanna, "Susanna, look over there!"
