Wolf-less Omega Luna

CHAPTER 47: A BAECATION

CHAPTER 47: A BAECATION

Alana’s POV

“We’re going where?” I relaxed my back on my chair, away from my food with my cutlery subtly clinking on the silverware.

“Away. To spend some time uphills,” Axel said, looking up from his third plate of food.

The man ate like a dragon.

“But that’s where your parents stay. Right?”

While I was game for a hall pass on the Luna activities and all that, I wasn’t very keen on visiting Axel’s parents after the incident at the last party we attended together.

They had left before I had a chance to apologize, not that I knew what I was going to say to them or if it was even going to fix anything but still, the dust was left hanging in the air.

Now Axel was suggesting we take a trip uphills of the pack, to the same place Alpha Micheal and Luna Valentina lived.

“Yes. We'll have a separate house but we’ll mostly be in their company.”

“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea. I kind of get the feeling they won’t like me anymore.” There was no point in being dishonest.

“Why would you think so?” He lifted an eyebrow and settled his ocean-blue eyes on me.

“The party didn’t really end on a good note that day. I practically burnt your mom’s throat with wolfsbane. I’m not sure Alpha Michael appreciated that either. And they left abruptly after the whole ordeal.”

“First of all,” he pulled my chair closer to his side, making me all flustered. “That wasn’t you. It was a mistake that you didn’t make. Secondly, my parents liked you from when they saw you. They understood what happened and they didn’t fault you for it. They just had to return early which was why we didn’t get a chance to see them off.”

“We?”

“Uh-hmm.” He nodded. “I didn’t see them leave either.”

That was far better than what I thought it was. Not the part where Axel didn't see his parents off, but the fact that it wasn't that they left angrily or hated me.

I believed that Axel was right. As usual.

“You’ll be fine. Besides, Tyler and Coral wouldn’t let me hear the end of it. They insist I take a break from work. You need some time off too. It’ll just be the two of us.”

Now that was something I could work with. I didn’t need any other convincing.

“Fine,” I sighed in defeat. “When do we leave?”

“As soon as you can pack.”

“Really?” My eyes shot up to my hairline. “Isn’t that a little too fast?”

“Spontaneous.”

“What about the pack? We can’t just up and leave them.”

“We’re not traveling, Alana,” he shook with a deep sexy chuckle that made my body tremble. The good kind. “We’ll be around. We will just be relieved of our duties. The pack will be in good hands. If not, they'll manage.”

His lips lifted ever so slightly, accentuating his features, making him fine as hell, and I couldn’t hold

back the pink that flushed my cheeks.

————

I conveniently hid behind Axel’s large frame as he tapped his knuckles on the wooden door of the cabin.

It had taken us only a few hours to pack up and make it to the other end of the pack where Axel’s parents lived alone.

The cabin was surrounded by a vast acreage that gave a perfect view of the rest of Crescent Moon pack beneath it. Breathtaking was too modest a word to describe the view.

“Axel!” Luna Valentina called from the other side of the opened door as she pulled Axel’s towering frame into a hug.

Axel barely draped an arm over her shoulder, returning the hug before pecking her temple.

“Mom, you look beautiful. How’re you?”

She did look beautiful. She looked elegant in a simple floral dress that stopped just beneath her knee to reveal her toned legs and smooth hands. Her hair was neatly tied, and light makeup was applied.

One look at her and you wouldn’t have guessed that the girl hiding behind the giant man almost un- alived her with wolfsbane.

She gasped and practically tossed Axel to the side, ignoring his question. “Alana!” She pulled me into a warm motherly hug, peppering kisses wherever her lips could touch.

“Hello, Luna, it’s good to see you again.” Thankfully, my voice was just audible.

It seemed that Axel was truly right. Did she even remember the ordeal?

“How are you, dear child? You look healthy. I like it. I see Axel has been taking good care of you.” She winked at me as though I was supposed to understand what she meant by that. I refuse to. “And likewise.”

“Luna Valentina, I didn’t get to apologize for what happened at the party with the toast. It was all on me and I’m very sorry. I deeply…”

“Oh, that.” She cut me off. “Nonsense, child. It’s all good, Alana. I don’t believe that was your fault.

Let’s leave it where it belongs. In the past,” she echoed a small laughter as she squeezed tight on my hand.

I simply nodded, too stunned to say anything. Her compassion and grace were beyond me. She was the mother of the most feared pack in the north and yet she beamed at the slightest things like a puppy that was overly excited to see its owner.

“Come now, Micheal is out back. Let’s go in and meet him.”

She breezed past Axel, leaving him on the patio with both our suitcases. Well, both of Axel’s suitcases. He gave me one of his to pack my things and I wasn't giving it back.

“It smells wonderful in here,” I chirped as we walked to the kitchen. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“I’m preparing Axel’s favorite meal. Micheal and I were delighted when he said he was bringing you over.” I glanced back at Axel who only shrugged at me. “He hardly ever comes here. I wonder if he’ll let me see my grandkids often,” she pouted.

I almost choked on air but I managed to force a smile in response. Was there any need to tell her about what happened back in the pack?

Not wanting to soil the mood with sour news, I sealed my lips shut.

“Micheal!” She shouted. “Alana is here!”

“And Axel. Your son.” Axel added with a scowl on his handsome face.

“Yes, right. How exciting.” She said with far less enthusiasm than the words were supposed to carry.

I chuckled, liking the fact that I was becoming a favorite to Luna Valentina, and Axel was not.

The sound of a door closing from the rear of the house told me that Alpha Micheal was heading down.

This would go well. I had Axel beside me and that was all I needed.
