Chapter 922: Want me to shut up
“Do I need your permission to come here? You’re just a mere secretary, temporarily assigned to Mr. Russo’s side, yet you dare to meddle in my affairs?” Alf Hicks glared sharply at her.
Vivian was taken aback. She thought Alf Hicks was an easy-going person, always acting amicably.
This made her forget her own identity.
Vivian forced herself to remain calm. “Mr. Russo asked me to come.”
Alf Hicks asked, “What did Mr. Russo ask you to do?”
Vivian hesitated for a moment. “To handle the cleaning, Mr. Russo is worried that Kelsey Silverton is too busy alone.”
“Are you sure you’re here to help and not to cause trouble?” Alf Hicks’s gaze scrutinized her, his tone mocking. “I bet you’re here to enjoy yourself, right?”
Vivian lowered her head and only then realized she was in her pajamas.
She had woken up because she was hungry.
Thinking that she hadn’t delivered the roast goose she bought, and hadn’t seen Orion yet, she was filled with anger. “Yesterday, it was because of you that I ran so far to buy a roast goose. Not only did I not see Mr. Russo, but the car broke down on the way. I spent the night on the road. If not for you, I wouldn’t be sleeping at this time. It’s all because of you, you’re the one who’s caused all this trouble for me.”
Alf Hicks chuckled. “That’s your own fault. How can you blame me? What I see is that you’re lazy, it’s already mid-morning, and you’re still sleeping. Doesn’t matter, since Mr. Russo doesn’t know, I’ll call him.”
He took out his phone, pretending to call Orion.
Vivian panicked.
She quickly grabbed Alf Hicks’s arm. “Don’t, please.”
Alf Hicks smiled at her. “Do you want me to shut up?”
Vivian nodded vigorously. “Please, don’t tell Mr. Russo.”
“Well, I suppose I can do that.” Alf Hicks seemed amiable. “You go do me a favor, and I’ll keep quiet about your slacking off. How about that?”
Vivian felt defeated. “I haven’t slept all night.”
“I can’t do anything about that.” Alf Hicks was unmoved.
He was about to dial a number again, and Vivian had no choice but to compromise. “Alright, I’ll do it for you.”
Alf Hicks smirked in triumph. “Great, go to the parking lot on the second basement floor of Wan Guo Tower. I’ve left something there for you to take to my house in Jinshui Bay.”
“What is it?” Vivian asked, having a bad feeling.
Yesterday, she was sent to buy roast goose and didn’t please Orion at all. She had spent the night on the road. Now she was still sleepy, but couldn’t sleep. And now she was being asked to fetch something.
“Aren’t you moving fast enough?” Alf Hicks urged.
Vivian huffed. “Fine, I’ll do it. But I have to change my clothes, right?”
“Whether you change or not, it doesn’t matter. You’ve already lost face, what’s the point of changing your clothes?” Alf Hicks taunted.
Vivian widened her eyes. “You, you, you’re insulting me.”
Alf Hicks chuckled. “You’re trying to seduce your boss, and you call me disrespectful?”
“Mr. Russo is unmarried, what’s wrong with me pursuing him?” Vivian retorted.
Alf Hicks was momentarily speechless, as if Vivian had a point.
Orion was currently single, and being pursued wouldn’t be morally wrong.
After all, she wasn’t pursuing a married man.
Vivian went to change her clothes.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Alf Hicks walked in.
He looked around and saw Luna hanging laundry. He walked over and leaned against the balcony. “So diligent?”
Luna ignored him, pretending not to hear.
Alf Hicks smacked his lips, being carefree and teasing. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have gone back yesterday. Aren’t you afraid of being alone at home?”
Luna frowned, feeling annoyed with him.
She picked up an empty basin and walked out.
Just then, Vivian came out in her new clothes.
She glared at Luna.
Luna was puzzled by her glare but didn’t press the issue.
She went to the bathroom.
Vivian left.
Alf Hicks followed her to the bathroom, leaning against the door. “You don’t like Orion, and you don’t like me either? Do you even like men at all?”
“I like women.” Luna washed her hands, wiped the sink clean, and said without looking at Alf Hicks.
Alf Hicks widened his eyes in disbelief. “Really?”
“Of course, it’s true. So please stop harassing me.” Luna said.
Alf Hicks crossed his arms, looking intrigued. “Tell me, are you a 1 or a 0?”
“What 1 and 0?” Luna looked confused.
Alf Hicks burst into laughter.
Luna stared at him as if he was crazy.
“If you’re sick, go to the hospital.”
“I’m perfectly fine,” Alf Hicks shook his head. “Why would I be sick.”
He sighed. “You say you’re a lesbian, but you don’t even know what 1 and 0 mean. Seeing you like women is fake. You still like men.”
Luna seemed to understand what 1 and 0 meant as a hidden message.
She didn’t understand homosexuality.
She didn’t discriminate.
After all, love knows no boundaries and is a matter of the heart.
Society’s lack of acceptance doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
If a man loves a woman, it’s love.
If a woman loves a woman, it’s also love. There is no difference. It’s all love. Who can judge what’s right and what’s wrong?
As long as she’s happy.
Suddenly, Star woke up.
Luna hurried to the baby’s room.
Star was kicking her legs and crying loudly.
Luna checked and found that she hadn’t soiled her diaper, so she gave her some water to drink.
Maybe she was thirsty, as she gradually stopped crying after drinking water.
Luna finished her tasks and then picked up Star. The fresh air outside was inviting.
She put a little hat on Star and prepared to take her out to play.
Star was happy being held in Luna’s arms.
Her little mouth was curved into a smile.
Alf Hicks followed like a shadow.
Luna said, “Don’t you have anything to do?”
“Aren’t I doing something right now?” Alf Hicks sat on a wicker chair.
Luna frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to do something, right?” Alf Hicks replied.
Luna frowned again. “Are you monitoring me? Did Mr. Russo… Mr. Russo instruct you? Doesn’t he trust me? Is he afraid I won’t take care of Star properly, or that something will go missing at home?”
Alf Hicks had tried to bring them together yesterday, but found both of them too awkward.
Since matchmaking was futile, why not cause trouble?
After all, he had nothing better to do.
“Is that how you see it?” Alf Hicks asked, “Do you really not trust Orion at all?”
Luna said, “It’s not that I think badly of him, aren’t you implying that to me?”
Alf Hicks coughed lightly. “I’m not thinking that way, don’t misunderstand.”
Luna understood.
He had come yesterday and come today.
He was definitely watching her.
Star was nestled in Luna’s arms, gradually falling asleep.
Luna took the opportunity to go back inside and close the door to avoid any disturbances.
Alf Hicks didn’t persist, understanding that she needed her space.
He stayed outside.
But when his phone suddenly rang, seeing it was from Orion, he didn’t answer. Instead, he hung up.
