Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1228

Chapter 1228

James led Pearl to the garden behind his house, next to a pretty water fountain.

Pearl looked at James, who didn't seem happy or sad, and asked him straight, "Why did you break up with Esther?"

James just looked back at her. "You saw everything. Isn't it obvious?"

"Did you really leave her just because your ex came back?"

James didn't reply.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

"So, you can't even say it? What a coward."

Pearl felt disappointed. She had so many things she wanted to say to him, but it seemed pointless now

because he wasn't responding. She couldn't believe this was the same James who had always been so kind and caring to Esther, and now he had left her.

The more pearl thought about it, the angrier she got. She demanded, "Answer me!"

James replied coldly, "There's nothing to talk about."

Pearl scoffed when she saw James looking annoyed. "Don't you remember how much you cared for her?"

"Don't bring that up," James cut her off.

"Did you know what Esther told me today?"

"I don't care."

"She said life is pointless."

James showed a flicker of concern but brushed it off, saying, "So?"

Pearl lost all hope in him, so she just nodded and said, "If you're going to act this heartless, don't be surprised by what comes next."

Esther might be weak, but Pearl wasn't going to let this go.

James warned her, "Do what you want to me, but leave Bubs out of it."

Bubs? Pearl couldn't help but feel disgusted by the nickname.

"Don't mention that disgusting woman. She knew you were engaged and still went after you. That's low," Pearl said.

James frowned. "Please be respectful."

"Respectful? How can you expect that after how you treated Esther? How can you expect me to be nice to your fiancee?" Pearl couldn't hide her disgust at this pair of cheaters.

She had had enough of this conversation. "I've said what I needed to. There's no point in talking more." As she pushed past James in frustration, she accidentally knocked him into the fountain. It wasn't deep, but he ended up soaking wet.

Pearl ignored him, thinking he got what he deserved, and said over her shoulder, "Don't bother inviting me to your wedding. I might just send some funeral wreaths." And with that, she left, leaving James drenched in the fountain.
