Brendon looked at Chris with a dark expression and softly uttered, “You’re dreaming!”

Chris laughed even more joyfully. “Well, that depends on you! There are so many good men in the world; Ranita doesn’t have to be stuck with you!”

After saying this, Chris felt he had said too much and quickly changed the subject, “I’ll be leaving now. Get some rest.”

“If you want Ranita to come see you, you can call her. She must be worried about you; otherwise, she wouldn’t have called me.”

Brendon felt pleased upon hearing this. That woman Ranita still cared about him!

“I’ll come to see you in a couple of days.”

Just as he was about to leave, Shannon cheerfully ran in, carrying a large basket of fruit.

“Chris, are you leaving already?”

“Yes, I have things to do.” Chris nodded slightly and left.

Shannon pouted and acted coyly towards Brendon, “Brendon, you’re the best to me. Chris used to be so nice to me when we were kids, but he’s gotten colder as he grew up.”

“Brendon, what fruit would you like? I’ll cut it for you.”

Brendon looked at Shannon indifferently and said in a thin voice, “Shannon, there’s no need. You should go rest.”

“We are no longer engaged; you don’t need to take care of me like this.”

Upon hearing this, Shannon’s eyes immediately turned red.

Brendon frowned, “Shannon, go back.”

“Brendon, please don’t send me away. You don’t know how much it hurts me to see you injured. I haven’t had a good night’s sleep these past few days.”

“I’m really worried about you and want to stay to take care of you. Even if we’re not engaged anymore, you grew up with me; you’re the most important person in my heart. Please don’t send me away.”

Her words were full of emotion, her tone rising and falling with feeling, making it moving.

“Brendon, I won’t bother you. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll stay outside.”

With that, Shannon really walked out, looking very understanding.

Brendon fiddled with his phone and with difficulty sent a message to Ranita.

Ranita received it just as she was about to arrive at the hospital. She waited for a while before nervously entering the elevator with her phone in hand.

Ranita hesitated for a long time before sneaking into Brendon’s room like a thief. Two bodyguards were standing at a distance.

But this time they didn’t stop Ranita.

Ranita stood by the door, gripping the handle, about to muster the courage to enter when she saw a slender figure through the observation window.

The woman wore a fairy-like dress, with black hair and black eyes. She approached Brendon with a few strands of sunlight on her and sat down before bending over to hug him.

She watched as Shannon bent over and brought her lips close to kiss Brendon! Ranita’s heart tightened, filled with a burning jealousy.

Ranita was furious!

Hadn’t they broken off their engagement? Why was Shannon still kissing him?

Suddenly, a familiar angry shout came from behind: “Ranita, why are you here again?!”

As the voice fell, Holly burst through the door, blocking the entrance and looking at Ranita with her chin raised high: “Get out!”
