A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 804: Not a Loss

“Aldo, you’re smart enough to know where this is, right?” Ranita stood up and smiled at Aldo. “Sometimes, don’t underestimate people, or you’ll pay a painful price.”

Aldo frowned, his face suddenly turning grim.

“What are you going to do? Are you planning to go after my family?” Aldo said, still smiling nonchalantly. “My parents, you can do whatever you want with them. It doesn’t matter to me whether they’re around or not.”

Ranita chuckled. “Don’t worry, I rarely involve the innocent.”

“You made the mistake, so you’ll bear the consequences.”

Aldo’s dark eyes stayed fixed on Ranita. He was still wearing the black clothes from his detention, stained with some blood, making them look dark and slightly smelly.

“What… are you going to do…” Aldo couldn’t figure out what else this woman could do to him; he had no weaknesses.

Ranita smiled. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

As Ranita left, she saw Mr. Goodman waiting at the door. “How did it go?”

“I personally think this matter isn’t that simple. Check if Aldo has any connections with Candy Studio.”

One person’s power is limited.

Aldo had approached her multiple times, indicating he knew her whereabouts well. Ranita didn’t believe he could have such power alone.

Someone must be helping him.

And Ranita’s first suspicion was Shannon or someone close to her…

“Alright, I’ll handle it! You’ve worked hard these past few days; go home and rest well!”

On the way, Ranita received a message from Brendon.

“Aren’t you coming to see me?”

Ranita thought for a moment and replied, “Are you feeling better?”

After a long wait, a message finally popped up: “My whole body hurts.”

Just three simple words, and then nothing more.

Ranita waited for a while and then sent another message: “Where does it hurt?”

When Ranita returned to the villa, Brendon still hadn’t replied. She started to feel anxious and distracted in everything she did.

She lay on the sofa, hugging a pillow and daydreaming. She thought Brendon was really bad, like fishing-throwing her a bait and then running away.

She didn’t want to take the bait but couldn’t help herself.

Ranita called Chris. “Chris, have you been to see Brendon in the hospital? How is he? Is he better?”

Coincidentally, Chris was sitting right across from Brendon. He raised an eyebrow and said calmly, “He’s doing fine.”

“Really?” Ranita’s voice was full of concern. Chris chuckled softly. “Ranita, don’t worry. Brendon is tough. Once he woke up, his recovery…”

Seeing Chris about to slip up, Brendon immediately pressed down on his hand and gave him a look.

Chris tilted his head and blinked before saying nonchalantly, “His recovery will definitely speed up, but with such severe injuries, it will take some time.”

“Won’t you come over to see him?” Chris paused and then said, “If you’re really worried, come over and take a look.”

Ranita bit her lip and agreed softly.

After hanging up the phone, Chris put away his mobile and looked at Brendon silently for a while before saying, “This is as much as I can help you.”

Brendon lifted his chin slightly. “I owe you one.”

“We’re brothers; no need for that.” Chris paused and then added, “Cherish her well. Otherwise, I might really pursue her.”

Chris smiled threateningly. “I’m not getting any younger either; it’s time I had a wife to warm my bed.”

“And getting a stepson in the process isn’t a loss.”
