A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 822: Delivering a Message

“Your sister is fine; you didn’t need to come in person,” Lena said with a bright smile as she approached. “A phone call would have sufficed.”

Morgan, who resembled Oscar Murphy and had a stern demeanor, nodded slightly and said, “I was passing by and decided to check in.”

“Shannon, are you feeling better?” Morgan asked, looking at Shannon. His tone was calm and lacked the warmth one might expect between siblings.

“Thank you for your concern, big brother. I’m much better now,” Shannon replied, her large eyes misty and her face looking pitiful.

But Morgan remained composed. “Good, as long as you’re better.”

“Morgan, don’t just stand there. Sit down!” Lena urged. “You’ve been quite busy lately. It’s been days since we last saw you. You look thinner. Come home when you have time; I’ll make some soup to nourish you.”

Lena’s attitude towards Morgan was very kind, but he remained indifferent. “I’ll come home when I have time.”

“By the way, I came to deliver a message from Father.” Morgan’s gaze shifted to Shannon, his tone becoming even more serious.

He said, “Shannon, your matter with Brendon ends here. Father doesn’t want this issue to continue. You need to restrain yourself.”

What?

Shannon bit her lip. “Morgan… but I…”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

“Shannon, the Murphy family and the Stuart family have been close for generations. We can’t let this minor issue affect our relationship. You are the eldest daughter of the Murphy family. Continuing like this will only lower your standing.”

“Maintain your dignity.”

Shannon pouted and looked at Morgan with a pitiful expression. “Morgan! But I really like Brendon. You know I’ve followed him around since we were kids…”

“Feelings can’t be forced,” Morgan said calmly. “Take this time to rest well. I’ll have someone take care of the studio matters. There should be no further entanglements.”

This meant that Shannon was to return fully to the life of a wealthy heiress and not step into the entertainment industry again.

“Morgan…”

Once Morgan handled something, there was no room for negotiation. Although he was her brother, he prioritized family interests over her personal feelings.

“I have other matters to attend to. I’m leaving now.”

“Morgan!” Lena called out to him. “Is this your father’s decision?”

Morgan nodded. “It’s his decision and mine as well.”

Shannon’s situation had dragged on for too long, especially with all the recent online buzz.

The Murphy family, being a prominent name in Kurima, had members involved in both business and politics. Neither Oscar Murphy nor Morgan wanted this issue to escalate further.

Lena’s expression darkened slightly, but she didn’t argue. She nodded instead. “I understand. I’ll take good care of Shannon.”

“Take care on your way back.”

Morgan left the hospital room and walked a short distance before turning towards another direction. He arrived at Brendon’s room and was about to knock when the door suddenly opened from the inside.

“Ah?” A soft exclamation came from within. Morgan stepped back slightly, his towering figure casting a large shadow.

Ranita was startled by the person in front of her.

“You… are…” Ranita gently closed the door and lowered her voice. “Are you here to see Brendon?”

“He’s already resting, so maybe…”

Brendon had finally fallen asleep after much fussing. If he were woken up, he would act like a three-year-old needing to be coaxed back to sleep, and Ranita didn’t have the time for that.
