A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 823: Declaration

Morgan’s gaze was fixed on Ranita. The Murphy family was known for their good looks, and Morgan had a more rugged appearance, with sharp eyebrows and piercing eyes that made him look intimidating.

Although he wore a suit, one of his hands was gloved in black, giving off a slightly strange vibe.

Ranita noticed his silence and frowned. “Sir… may I ask you…”

The woman’s frown and familiar expression made Morgan momentarily dazed.

“Sir?” Her soft, clear voice brought Morgan back to reality.

He composed himself and spoke calmly, “Hello, I am Morgan, a friend of Brendon. Since he is resting, I won’t disturb him.”

“I’ll visit him next time.” As he finished speaking, his phone rang, and he walked away while answering the call.

Ranita had some work to do in the evening and decided to get a cup of coffee. Unexpectedly, she ran into Morgan again on the first floor.

The man frowned at her and greeted her first. “Are you Ranita?”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Did this person know her?

“I am. Mr. Murphy, do you know me?” Ranita asked awkwardly, only to hear Morgan say, “I am Shannon’s brother.”

What?

Shannon’s brother?

Ranita suddenly felt a chill down her spine. Was he here to cause trouble for her because of his sister?

“I won’t interfere in matters between you and Shannon,” Morgan said, seemingly reading her thoughts.

“Ah…” Ranita felt even more awkward and didn’t know how to respond. She could only stare at Morgan with wide eyes.

Morgan found her silly yet somewhat endearing.

It was a strange feeling. From his standpoint, he should not like Ranita, but he inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity towards her.

Morgan frowned deeply.

He already looked stern, and frowning made him appear even more intimidating, causing Ranita to feel a chill at the back of her head.

“Mr. Murphy, there’s nothing serious between Miss Murphy and me. I have something to do, so I’ll leave now.”

Ranita quickly left and went to the self-service coffee machine to buy a cup of coffee. When she turned around, she found Morgan still standing there watching her.

The eerie feeling made Ranita very uneasy.

Shannon was already peculiar, Lena was difficult to deal with, and now there was an older brother…

Ranita held her coffee cup and hurriedly left.

The next day, Ranita was woken up by a call from Eve. She groggily reached for her phone, brushing past Brendon’s waist.

As she answered the call, Brendon pulled her into his arms and kissed her chin.

“Brendon, stop it, I’m on the phone!” Ranita lazily pushed his hand away but couldn’t move him. Instead, she was wrapped in his embrace as he closed his eyes and nibbled on her ear. “Who is calling so early?”

“Eve! Are you an octopus? Stop moving!” Ranita warned him while putting the phone to her ear.

“Ranita, sorry to wake you! Are you up?” Eve sounded extremely excited. “I have great news!”

“Hmm?” Ranita was confused. “Go ahead, I’m listening.”

“Shannon’s studio released a statement saying she and Brendon have called off their engagement…”

Ranita didn’t catch the rest because Brendon took the phone and rudely hung up.

“What are you doing…”

Brendon held her close and whispered in her ear, “It’s too noisy. Whatever it is can wait until we wake up.”
