A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 826: Wrong

“Hmm?”

Brendon felt a bit insulted.

While he was distracted, Ranita tried to slip out of bed and escape, but she was quickly pulled back.

Brendon, determined to assert himself, pinned her down.

He was already warm, and now his entire body pressed against hers, making her heart race.

“Brendon… let go…”

Brendon looked down at her with a dangerously intense gaze.

“Ranita, what did you just say?” His voice was soft, but Ranita felt the threat, like a fish on a chopping board.

“I… was just joking,” Ranita admitted.

“Get up, or your wound will reopen!”

“Let it reopen! Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson…” With that, Brendon slapped her bottom.

Ranita’s face turned red with embarrassment.

“Brendon! I admit I was wrong!” Ranita pleaded, but her fingers were pried open and interlocked with his above her head.

Ranita was scared. Despite her shyness, she was genuinely worried that his reckless actions would hurt his wound. It was a surgical wound, after all. Couldn’t he be more careful?

“Brendon, don’t do this! I really know I was wrong! I was just teasing you!”

Brendon stared at her. “Will you dare next time?”

“No!” Ranita barely finished her sentence before he kissed her again.

Ranita, fearing things might go too far, was cautious. Sweat formed on her back from the strain. Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore and pushed against his chest, pleading pitifully, “Brendon, Mr. Stuart!”

“You’re a big person with a big heart; don’t hold this little thing against me! I won’t tease you again!”

Brendon snorted. “Sweet talk won’t help now!”

He leaned closer and whispered in her ear, “Call me ‘husband,’ and I’ll let you go.”

Ranita gritted her teeth. Brendon was just her ex-husband; how could he expect her to call him that?

“Are you cursing me in your mind?” Brendon’s eyes glinted as he looked at her, his voice turning particularly gentle. “Hmm? Are you?”

Could he read minds?

Ranita shook her head. “No, I’m not cursing you! We’re divorced; you’re not my…”

Even when they were married, she rarely called him that. It felt too awkward.

Ranita was also very shy.

“If you don’t call me that, then I’ll…” Brendon was about to bite her when Ayaan’s cheerful voice came from the door: “Mommy, Daddy, I’m here! Are you up?”

“Ayaan missed you. Can I come in?”

Fortunately, Ayaan was polite enough not to barge in.

Ranita pushed Brendon away in a panic and scrambled out of bed. She quickly tied up her hair and straightened her clothes before noticing Brendon’s resentful look.

“Ranita, are you trying to murder your husband?”

“Who told you to be so improper!” Ranita’s face was still red, her eyes sparkling with a hint of pink. She looked particularly alluring when she glared at him.

“Lie down!” Ranita ordered him to lie down and covered him with the blanket. “Calm down. If Ayaan sees this, you’ll see how I deal with you tonight.”

Ranita was as fierce as a tigress.

But Brendon laughed happily and spread his hands innocently. “You started it!”
