A Successful Career After Divorce

In the evening, Boulderland Mansion hosted a celebration for Brendon’s recovery and discharge from the hospital. Besides the Stuart family, some of Brendon’s friends were also invited.

There weren’t many people, but Ranita knew most of them.

At the dinner, because Ewan Stuart was present, Amiya didn’t have a chance to trouble Ranita. Most of the people there knew Ranita, but what intrigued them now was the little boy by her side.

Ayaan looked very much like Brendon.

There was no need to guess; everyone understood.

No one expected Ranita to come back one day, and she even brought Brendon’s son with her! Judging by Brendon’s attitude, Ayaan was clearly the future heir!

The Stuart family relatives who used to mock Ranita didn’t dare to speak. They found excuses to leave after dinner.

Allen played with Ayaan, while Chris discussed matters with Brendon in the study.

In the living room, only Holly, Shannon, and Ranita were left. Seeing it was getting late, Ranita planned to leave with her son but was stopped by Holly.

“Ranita, stop right there!” Holly raised her chin arrogantly. “Don’t think you’re something just because my brother brought you and your wild child back. Let me tell you, I will never acknowledge you as my sister-in-law!”

Ranita used to feel uncomfortable hearing this.

Now, she just found it amusing.

“Holly, my matters with Brendon are none of your business,” Ranita said calmly. “I am a guest invited by Brendon. If you have any issues with me, take them up with him.”

“Anything else?”

Holly’s face turned red. If she dared to confront Brendon, she wouldn’t be sulking here!

Shannon immediately put on an innocent act.

Ranita found it extremely annoying and said coldly, “I’m not money; I don’t need everyone to like me. So whether you like me or not doesn’t matter to me.”

“And you, Miss Murphy, we’re not close and we don’t get along. Let me reiterate: stop pretending we’re familiar. It’s disgusting!”

After speaking, Ranita ignored Shannon’s teary-eyed expression and turned to leave.

“Ranita! Stop! What did you say? How dare you talk about Shannon like that? Don’t go… you…”

Holly chased after her but stopped when she heard Shannon crying. She hurried back to comfort her, and half of her muttered curses reached Ranita’s ears.

Ranita found Ayaan and got into the car before sending a message to Brendon: “I’m taking Ayaan home. Although you’re discharged, you’re not fully recovered yet. Take care.”

Brendon called her immediately.

“Why did you leave just like that?” Brendon sounded a bit unhappy. He fumbled in his drawer for a ring he had intended to give Ranita.

But she had left.

“I haven’t spent much time with Ayaan lately. I’ll stay with him tonight.” Ranita didn’t tell Brendon that she had booked a flight back to Steland for the next day.

She feared that if she told him, he wouldn’t let her go.

“What about me?” Brendon grumbled softly. “Am I supposed to sleep alone?”

These days, Brendon had been living quite comfortably, stealing kisses from his wife during the day and holding her at night. It was blissful.
