A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 839: The Grass is Greener

“I’ll come find you later!” Brendon said with anticipation in his voice. “How about you move back to the apartment instead of staying at Dylan’s?”

Ranita had considered it. After Aldo was arrested, there was no more trouble at the apartment. However, she had been taking care of Brendon in the hospital and planned to return to Steland afterward, so she hadn’t mentioned it.

“Don’t bother. Eve is going on a show, and Dylan doesn’t live there. Ayaan and I are doing fine.”

“There are also maids to help or watch over Ayaan, so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Brendon still wasn’t satisfied. “What about me?”

“Just live as you did before!” Ranita chuckled, unable to suppress her laughter. “I can’t help you.”

“Ranita!” Brendon gritted his teeth slightly, then sighed. “Ranita… I want to be with you every moment now.”

Ranita felt a sweet warmth in her heart.

Her voice turned cheerful and bright. “Really? But I don’t want that! Today, I’m going out with Ayaan and Eve. We’re going to have a wonderful evening.”

“You get some rest. I’m hanging up now.”

Eve was preparing for her show, so she had made a special dinner, and everyone was having a lively time.

During the evening, Ranita received a call from Alexia urging her.

“Ranita, when are you coming back?” Alexia had been very unhappy since she found out Ranita was taking care of Brendon in the hospital. “You and Brendon Stuart are divorced. Why are you still running to take care of him? Are you out of your mind?”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Ranita sighed and explained, “Mom, didn’t I tell you? He got injured because of me. I’m just taking care of him out of conscience.”

“Hmph, I’m afraid you’ll start feeling soft-hearted! Listen to me, since you’re divorced, don’t go back to him.”

“There are plenty of good men in Steland. Don’t hang yourself on one tree. When you come back, I’ll introduce you to ten or eight good ones, and you can pick the best.”

Alexia wasn’t joking. While Ranita was away, she had already found several excellent young men and planned to start matchmaking as soon as Ranita returned.

Ranita bit her lip, feeling a bit anxious because of the hot wind.

“Mom, do you… and Dad not like Brendon?” Ranita asked nervously, her fingers clenched together.

Alexia huffed angrily. “How could I like him? I’ve looked into it. Sure, he’s good-looking and comes from a good family, but he hurt you. He divorced you and left you and your son behind. Just thinking about it makes me angry.”

“Mom… actually…” Ranita wanted to speak up for Brendon, but Alexia clearly didn’t want to hear it. She spoke quickly, “You still want to defend him? Even if you convince me, your dad won’t agree. If your dad weren’t feeling unwell, he would have already gone to Kurima to settle accounts with Brendon!”

“Remember not to mention him when you come home, okay?”

Oh no! The Bowmans really disliked Brendon.

Ranita felt sorry for Brendon.

But there was no helping it. Alexia was gentle and could be persuaded with time, but getting Benedict Bowman to accept Brendon would take a lot longer!

Ranita felt quite touched. Before Chole Bowman returned to the Bowman family, she had lived happily with loving parents and a brother. Even though things changed later, she knew the Bowmans always cared for her. That was enough!
