A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 852: The Movie

In the dim light, Brendon could only see the blurry outline of the woman’s face, but the kiss on her lips was enough to fill his heart completely.

Since they were in a public place, Brendon didn’t go too far. However, feeling guilty, Ranita barely watched the rest of the movie, her face flushed. As soon as it ended, she ran out.

Ranita hid in the restroom to calm down, only to turn around and bump into Lily and Diana Heath. Both of them were momentarily stunned before they approached with insincere smiles.

“Isn’t this Ranita? What are you doing here alone?” Diana Heath asked with a grin. “Are you here to eat or watch a movie by yourself?”

“This is an upscale mall. Dining and movies aren’t cheap here. Can you afford it now?” Lily mocked with a smirk. “Don’t pretend to be something you’re not! It will only make life harder for you!”

“We’re meeting some old classmates at a restaurant on this floor. Since we all know each other, you can join us for a meal.”

“Lily, are you out of your mind?”

“Who are you calling crazy?! Ranita, stop acting so smug. Everyone online knows about your scandals… Didn’t you try to seduce someone’s fiance? Why are you back in Steland now?”

Lily glared angrily, and Diana Heath immediately joined in. “Exactly, you’ve embarrassed all our classmates. If it were me, I’d be too ashamed to show my face!”

“Lily, you’re so kind to invite her to dinner. Can she even afford such an expensive restaurant?”

Ranita initially didn’t want to engage with them, but their words provoked her.

“Where is your class reunion? Fine, I’ll go say a few words to our classmates!”

Hearing that Ranita was serious about going, Diana Heath sneered. “If you want to come, then follow us!”

After all, it would be her who would be embarrassed later.

As Ranita reached the private room’s door, she remembered she hadn’t informed Brendon and paused. Diana Heath immediately taunted her. “Ranita, are you chickening out?”

Ranita smiled faintly. “Of course not! I just want to send a message to my boyfriend so he won’t worry.”

Diana Heath laughed mockingly. “Looks like you know you’re about to make a fool of yourself and are preparing an escape route!”

Ignoring her, Ranita pushed the door open and entered.

Inside the private room were indeed several former classmates, along with Lily’s husband and a few unfamiliar faces, probably from other departments.

However, Ranita was quite well-known in school, so many recognized her.

“It’s really you! Long time no see!”

Her former classmates greeted her warmly. Ranita nodded. “Indeed, it’s been a long time.”

Lily quickly explained. “We ran into each other outside, so I invited her to join us.”

“You don’t mind, do you?”

“Of course not! Ranita, it’s been years since we last saw you. Where are you working now?” someone asked before Ranita even sat down.

Ranita glanced at Lily and replied calmly. “I’ve had some family matters recently, so I’m currently taking a break.”

The room fell silent for a moment.

“Oh, I see… We’re all old classmates. If you’re interested, you can come work for my husband. We’re looking for a simultaneous interpreter. You could give it a try,” Lily offered with feigned kindness. “The pay is good; you won’t be treated unfairly.”

“Yes, think about it. It’s hard for young people to find jobs these days. You should cherish this opportunity Lily is giving you!” Diana Heath chimed in. “You should thank Lily!”
