A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 863: Keep an Eye

“Leon, are you really going to have a blind date with Ranita? Do you know she has a child, and she used to be with me…” Gerardo was cut off by Leon. “Enough, do you think I don’t know?”

“It’s the modern age, having a child doesn’t matter. The key is whether the two people can see eye to eye.”

“Alright, let’s go. Don’t disturb us.”

Seeing that Leon didn’t want to listen, Gerardo’s face fell. “Leon, can we not talk? We’ll just sit next door!”

“Miss Ranita, do you mind?” Leon asked.

Ranita shook her head. “I don’t mind.”

She wasn’t really there for the blind date anyway. She came because Alexia had already arranged it, and if she flaked, Alexia would definitely have something to say.

“Can you drink Long Island Iced Tea?” Leon asked. “The Long Island Iced Tea here is pretty good and not too intoxicating.”

“I drove here,” Ranita declined indirectly. “Do they have lemon water?”

“What do you think?” Leon retorted.

Ranita figured the bar probably wouldn’t have lemon water and accepted his suggestion. “Then Long Island Iced Tea it is! I’ll call a driver later.”

Leon chuckled softly. “You’re quite nice, how old are you?”

“Didn’t you say you knew?” Ranita didn’t answer but instead asked, “Is this bar yours?”

“Yes, I opened it for fun.” Leon enthusiastically explained the origin of the bar, and soon the Long Island Iced Tea arrived.

Ranita rarely drank cocktails, but it tasted quite good.

Ranita thought it was about time to lay her cards on the table with Leon, but Leon spoke first. “Miss Ranita, I guess you’re not really here for a blind date.”

“Oh? Is Mr. Grant being forced as well?” Ranita smiled more, her mood had been good lately, and her eyes always carried a smile when she looked at people, making her look radiant.

The lighting wasn’t too bright.

Leon stared.

Ranita rarely appeared in social circles; most people only knew she was good-looking and had excellent grades, but nothing more.

Who would have thought she was a hidden gem?

“Not really! I’m at the right age, and my family is indeed quite anxious.” Leon laughed. “Miss Ranita doesn’t want a blind date? Do you have someone you like?”

Ranita smiled but didn’t answer.

But silence meant agreement.

“That’s a pity. I quite like you and thought if we had a chance, we could develop something.” Leon said regretfully. “I’m a good guy, decent looking, enthusiastic personality. Although I like to have fun, I don’t mess around with relationships. Being with me should be quite enjoyable.”

Ranita found him amusing and self-promoting.

“Mr. Grant is indeed interesting.” Ranita smiled. “But I really don’t want to consider marriage right now. However, my mother…”

“So I’m very sorry.” After a pause, Ranita said somewhat awkwardly. “Mr. Grant, I’d like to ask you a favor. If anyone asks, could you say that you didn’t like me, so it didn’t work out?”

“Is that okay?”

If Leon rejected her, her mother probably wouldn’t say much. This was the best solution Ranita could think of.

Leon raised his glass and said cheerfully, “No problem!”NôvelDrama.Org © content.

“Thank you!” Ranita smiled too. She didn’t expect things to go so smoothly, but suddenly she felt as if something was watching her…
