A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 864: Tempting

Looking around, Ranita couldn’t figure out who was staring at her.

“Hey! Leon… how could you do this!” Gerardo, who had been peeking over, finally couldn’t hold back and pointed at Ranita. “Ranita, what’s wrong with my cousin? How can you not like him?”

“Is the Bowman family treating people like fools? Coming out for a blind date, but not liking this one or that one, with no sincerity at all. If that’s the case, don’t come out for blind dates!”

Gerardo stood up for Leon. “Leon, don’t agree with her! She’s the one who rejected you, why should you take the blame?”

“Auntie keeps nagging you about not getting married, and you’re already under a lot of pressure. If you dare say you don’t like her, Auntie will definitely beat you up.”

After speaking, Gerardo awkwardly glared at Ranita again. “Ranita, it’s not that he likes you; I just don’t want my cousin to take the blame.”

“Aren’t you getting along well with Augustus? You have a kid, he’s plump, and you two are a perfect match! What a great thing…” Before he could finish, Leon slapped him. “Shut up!”

“Leon!”

“We agreed you wouldn’t speak! Say one more word and get lost!” Leon looked at Gerardo helplessly. After sending him away, he apologized to Ranita. “I’m sorry, Gerardo has no filter, but he has a good heart.”

“We’re all from Steland; don’t take it to heart.”

Ranita didn’t mind. She just felt like someone was watching her, scrutinizing her from head to toe, making her scalp tingle and feeling very uncomfortable.

“Mr. Grant, I have something to do… I’ll be leaving now…” Ranita finished her Long Island Iced Tea and hurriedly planned to leave.

But as soon as she stood up, her legs felt weak.

“Be careful!” Leon reached out to support her. “Are you dizzy? Maybe you’re not used to drinking?”

“Possibly…” Ranita felt a bit dizzy and held onto Leon. “Can you call me a driver?”

“Of course! Even though the blind date didn’t work out, we’re friends now. Sit down; I’ll find a driver for you…”

While waiting for the driver, Ranita went to the restroom.

She didn’t expect the Long Island Iced Tea to have such a strong aftereffect; she felt dizzy after just one glass! The restroom was in a corner, with no smell but dim lighting. There was a couple kissing in the hallway.

Their actions were intense; the woman almost pulled down the man’s pants…

Ranita awkwardly walked past them and was about to push open one of the stalls when someone suddenly pushed her from behind.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Instinctively sensing danger, she tried to fight back, but her wrist was held down. A man’s solid chest pressed against her as he pushed her inside.

A familiar low voice came. “Ranita, out meeting men again?”

“This time at a bar?”

Ranita’s nape was gently pinched like a kitten being held by the scruff, making her afraid to move.

She bit her lip and thought miserably why Brendon had followed her. She had clearly found an excuse to keep him away!

“What… are you doing here?” Ranita suppressed her thoughts as the man forcibly turned her around and grabbed her chin to make her look into his eyes.

The dim light seemed almost intimate.

His dark eyes were like bottomless cold pools, reflecting icy light and danger, like a beast lurking in the night ready to hunt.

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that?” Brendon gritted his teeth, his sharp jawline close to hers, his narrow eyes filled with mockery.
