Chapter 756
Yvonne returned to the dining room.
She acted as if she hadn't seen anything and continued drinking and chatting with her father.
After dinner, it was time for her to leave.
Before leaving, Yvonne tested the waters. "Dad, why don't I stay here tonight and leave tomorrow?"
"You used to never stay home and are always out playing, and now you want to stay with me? I think you should go out and have fun like you used to."
This was Geoffrey's private residence, and Yvonne and Sebastian didn't live here.
"Dad, are you trying to get rid of me?"
"Exactly."
Yvonne pouted, seemingly a little upset. "I'm your daughter. How can you chase me away?"
Geoffrey patted her on the head. "Alright, now. How could I bear to do that? I was just joking. You should go spend some time with your brother. He must be exhausted taking care of your sister-in-law."
Yvonne could sense that her father wanted her to leave.
It made sense—he was hiding a woman here. If his daughter stayed and she found out, it wouldn't be good.
Yvonne didn't press the issue. It wasn't the right time to confront him, so she'd take it one step at a time.
"Alright then, I'll head out. Bye-bye."
Since Yvonne drank some alcohol, Geoffrey arranged for a driver to take her home. Whether she went to the hospital, her own place, or even out to a nightclub again didn't matter to him, as long as she didn't stay here.
He wanted to spend time with just Sydney.
After Yvonne left, Geoffrey returned to the room. He sat down next to Sydney, who was still fast asleep. She was completely exhausted.
He pulled the blanket over her shoulder and gently sighed. Then, he lay down beside her and wrapped his arms around her.
Sydney shifted slightly, impatiently pulling away from him. Her whole body was aching, and every movement felt like her bones were falling apart. "Sydney, my daughter just left. Don't worry, she doesn't know you're here. I kept it from her so as not to cause you any trouble. See, I'm being considerate of you now."
He chuckled softly and kissed her cheek.
"Sydney, you should go visit
Sebastian sometime. You scolded him, and even hit him. He must be feeling terrible. That child had a hard time growing up. I was very strict with him, always beating and scolding him."
At this point, Geoffrey suddenly stopped talking, as he clearly felt Sydney's body tremble.
A smug smile crept across his lips, and he continued, "Sometimes I beat him until he bled, and he wouldn't make a sound.
"Although Xyla never hurt him, she
wasn't his biological mother. And knowing that he was our child, she always felt some distance from him and didn't care for him much Naturally, she never protected him.
"Sebastian has been starved of motherly love. Could you give him some? Be a little kinder to him. If you think I've corrupted Sebastian, then correct him and make him a good, kind person. But for that to happen, you need to stay by his side. Sebastian isn't a bad kid. Hè just needs guidance. He also needs a mother."
As Geoffrey spoke, his hand gently brushed across her cheek. "He really needs a mother."
Although Sydney kept her eyes closed, tears had already started streaming down her face, soaking the pillow.
After Sebastian finished his shower, he looked at himself in the mirror. His cheek was slightly swollen, and the handprint was still clearly visible. Thinking about how Sydney had slapped him and called him a bastard and an animal, Sebastian clenched his fists.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
"Sydney, just you wait.'
Suddenly, Sebastian thought of something. After getting dressed, he left the ward.
About an hour later, Sebastian returned holding a bottle of medicine.
He went into the bathroom, stood in front of the mirror, and opened the bottle. Using a cotton swab, he gently applied the medicine to his face.
The liquid was clear, leaving only a transparent sheen on his skin. There was a bit of a sting, but it disappeared after a few minutes.
Staring at his reflection, Sebastian's lips curled into a cold smile.
