Vanessa couldn’t find the day interesting any longer, she was so sad towards the ring she saw in Xavier’s room.

She doesn’t need to be told that the ring is for their upcoming wedding ceremony, her heart was filled with sorrow and anger, yet she wasn’t able to give a reason behind her strange feelings.

This is the first time she’s acting this way towards Xavier, although she has been feeling jealous all this while but not to this extent.

Despite the fact she had lots of customers to attend to… she wasn’t happy.

The day I came with a big sale but she felt sad.

In the evening time, Chleo visited her in the bakery… She offered her some cupcakes and the little girl felt excited being with her babysitter.

She noticed the sudden feeling in Vanessa, because throughout the little moment had spent with her… Vanessa had not smiled for once.

She had known her babysitter to be a cheerful type…always welcoming her with a smile is always part of her, but then everything changed for the day.

Vanessa wasn’t smiling at her…she wasn’t saying a word, all her concentration was on the oven arranging the cakes while her face was so chiseled like she had fought with someone.

“You haven’t said anything to me since I came in here, ma’am Vanessa. Hope everything is okay with you?” Chleo asked her, distracting her thoughts.

She lifted her face and stared at the little girl forcing a smile on her face at the moment, just to make sure she doesn’t feel hurt.

“I am just good, but the stress is too much… I feel so weak that I need a big rest, that’s all… nothing much baby girl.” she assured Chloe trying to comfort her.

Due to the smile on her face, the little girl felt glad and then began telling her some stories she got from her teacher.

Vanessa wasn’t concentrating on hearing the stories, the only thing she had in mind was the ring.

She wondered when their wedding would take place and she had decided never to be present no matter what. She wouldn’t stand and watch Xavier get married to Lilian in her presence.

Anyways, not that she will bring a scotch to it, but she wouldn’t be able to bear the pains though.

She heaved a big sigh and shut the oven.

“I think it’s time we get home, because… I need some rest. I can’t just stand here any longer.” She referred to little Chleo.

The girl happily got on her feet running into her arms. Vanessa didn’t hesitate to lift her up as usual just to make sure she doesn’t notice the strange feeling in her.

Vanessa locked up her bakery and left Xavier’s residence with the little girl. They stepped into the building to find everywhere so quiet.

She didn’t bother to know what’s going on since she’s quite sure that Tracy and Ben would be around

“My siblings must be asleep ma’am Vanessa, and the other lady isn’t around…” Chleo tried narrating without being questioned.

She turned deaf ear to the statement she just made while they walked into the sitting room. She got seated on the sofa in the sitting room trying to affix her mind in the ongoing movie… yet she couldn’t.

The owner of her kept battling in sorrow and she couldn’t bring it to a stop.

“Have you had your lunch?” She asked after how many hours they’ve been together.

The little girl smiled. “Yes ma’am Vanessa, I took my lunch before coming over to the bakery.”

She nodded at that response and relaxed on the sofa again. Within some minutes she dozed off and Chloe didn’t bother to wake her up.

Tracy and Ben came downstairs and caught her asleep on the sofa for the first time, they asked Cleo what’s wrong with the lady and she assured them everything was okay… just that she is weak. Tracy sniffed and left the kitchen to get the dinner prepared, while Ben left immediately with her.

Since Vanessa had taken some rest, Chloe had to wake her up and then left upstairs to her room, she laid on the bed staring at the white ceiling counting on it while getting herself in a deep thought again.

“What exactly is wrong with you ma’am Vanessa? You are acting so strange… this isn’t the woman that I know.”

She glanced at the little girl and forced a smile on her face. “I’ll be ok dear you need to take your shower now.” she got on her feet and undressed her.

They stepped into the bathroom and she freshened her up. They both sat on the bed chatting, at that moment Chloe decided to repeat all the stories she had told her before since she noticed she wasn’t concentrating.

“My teacher has taught me a lot today and I believe you learnt from my story right?” she asked Vanessa.

She nodded. “Yeah! I learnt a lot just like you did, now you go check if Tracy is done with the meal so I can feed you and start going.”

Chloe shook her head… “Ma’am Vanessa, please do me this favour. I would like you to sleep over with me just for today… I want to rest my head on your chest just for tonight.”

Vanessa couldn’t help it but let out a loud laughter, this little girl won’t stop amusing her.

“This isn’t our agreement Chloe, or have you forgotten I need to go home and do some certain things for myself then come back in the morning? I believe you’ve been taking a nice sleep all this while, so this night won’t be different right? I would like to leave as soon as I’m done with my work… if you feel like being with someone on your bed, you can leave to your sibling or rather to your father… or do you want to go with me at least to know where I reside huh?”

If only her father would let her go with Vanessa, she would love it… at least to see her residence for the first time.

“If I tell my father he might not accede to that, I know my father won’t let me go with you… so please spend the night with me. I will come visit you during the weekends.” she assured Vanessa.

Vanessa didn’t bother to give a response to that request again, she got on her feet heading to the kitchen herself.

Time will tell if she will accede to granting this request, but as for now, she isn’t in that mood.

She met Tracy in the kitchen and ordered Chloe’s meal which she handed over to her instantly. Chloe laid on the bed shedding tears when she stepped into the living room.

“Sweethearts, what’s wrong with you again?” she asked, lifting the little girl into her arms.

Chloe twisted her face while glaring at her. “I’m just sure you aren’t here to feed me, because I am not eating anything unless you grant my request…if only you will stay with me tonight then I’ll be the happiest on Earth.” Chleo uttered politely

She got on her feet pacing around the room. “But why are you doing this to me? You know I have a lot of things to do tonight in my home… Despite the fact I told you that I am weak and need some rest, I will do that whenever I am back on my feet before morning. If I should spend my night here, then who will do all those things for me? Anyways, you need to take your meal first before we talk about it.”

“No, I’m not taking my meal unless we discuss it first… the assurance you give me will let me know if I’m to take the meal or not. I promise to starve tonight if you ever decline my request again.”

“Chloe…” She overheard her daddy call her from the corridor.

She jumped down from the bed and headed to the corridor. “You just called me now Dad, welcome back.” She greeted her father without a single smile on her face.

“Xavier moved towards her gripping her palm while squatting.”You are sad again.”

“Yes Dad, because of ma’am Vanessa…”

Xavier glanced around but didn’t get any soul with them. “Where is she?” he asked her

Chloe shut her eyes. “She’s in my room, I pleaded that she should stay over but she refused.”

“You can’t say that Chloe, she needs to go home of course… it’s not our agreement. She will be back in the morning ok.” he assured her and left for his room.

She felt sad at the moment.

“Can you now have your dinner so I can be taking my leave?”

“You hate me now, ma’am Vanessa.”

“Oh! Come on, don’t say that again.” Vanessa scolded her, she looked off and sat on the sofa.

“You can go, I am not taking the meal.”

“Ok now, you are refusing to eat… you just decided to starve yourself all because I refused to stay with you for the night…”

“Of course I will, and I promise not to eat until you grant my request.” the little girl persisted.

Vanessa felt baffled, she didn’t want to spend her night and had never planned to do that…the ring she had just seen is killing the inner of her and she wouldn’t want to spend the night in the same home that is eating her up.

“Do you know I can get revenge for this one day, Chloe?”

“Anytime, just remind me that it is revenge and I’ll be ready to bear the pain.” Chloe remarked.

She smiled, getting her ass on the bed. “Okay then, I will spend my night with you today and then you will take your meal. I don’t want you to starve okay.” she assured the little girl.

Chloe couldn’t hold the happiness, she ran into her arms with a huge smile on her face.
