The waitresses were too busy gossiping to notice Tobias, one of the men in the private room, standing
behind them.
Tobias was evidently unhappy when he took out his credit card, but he didn't argue with them because
he didn't want to stoop to their level.
The waitresses exchanged awkward glances with one another before scurrying away.
The cashier, who happened to be the one who gossiped the most just now, was left alone at the
counter.
Gavin scoffed, “A hundred for an omelet? The price is ridiculous. How do you expect customers to not
complain?”
The cashier lowered her head and kept quiet.
“Bill please,” Tobias grunted.
When the cashier saw Tobias' black card, she realized that celebrities would only go out with rich guys.
“Ms. Jones has settled the bill.”
Tobias put his card back into his wallet. If not for their years of friendship, Gavin would have thought
that Tobias flashed his card on purpose to show off his status.
Tobias was rather old-fashioned in certain ways. As he hadn't gotten used to contactless payment, he
always paid with either card or cash.
Even the street hawkers had QR codes for digital payment. For some, keeping spare change was
considered outdated.
Meanwhile, after taking Penelope's call, Skylar agreed to meet her at a dessert store near their high
school.
Back when she was poor, she would only order a glass of blueberry-flavored bubble tea which was six
per glass.
When her grandmother found out about it, she scolded her for wasting money and living like a princess
when she couldn't afford to.
Money should only be spent on necessary items.
Although Meredith treated Skylar well, the way she spoke was sometimes spiteful enough to hurt

The owner of the dessert shop was on the verge of dozing off, but he was instantly alert when he saw
Skylar walking in.
As expected, the dessert shop next to the high school was poorly renovated. There were only two worn
plastic chairs and a table for the guests. The powdered ingredients for the milk tea were simply placed
in a transparent container within the customers' sight.

Delighted, the owner of the shop insisted on treating Skylar to a glass of bubble tea because of her
popularity among teenagers after the success of her drama series.
Most of the teenagers were high school students, who were the target customers of his shop.
If he put up a photo of him and Skylar in front of the dessert shop, he would get more customers.
Penelope entered the dessert shop at that moment. Seeing how ravishing Skylar looked even with just
a light make-up, Penelope couldn't help but stare at the wrinkles on the corner of her eyes in the mirror.
They were of the same age, but Penelope's appearance had aged after giving birth and getting
dumped by the man she loved.
Skylar ordered two cups of hot cocoa and some egg tarts.
Even though it was a dessert shop, the only food the shop sold was egg tarts. It was not surprising that
the shop hadn't been doing well.

Skylar's thoughts wandered as Penelope brought up the past.
That was a time when Skylar's summer was full of the smell of the fresh grass and the warmth of the
sunlight. A can of soda and a cone of ice cream were good enough for her. And when the night fell, she
would watch the sunset and daydream about all the romantic things that could happen to her.
