Chapter 673 Her Ideal Relationship

Before Skylar could react, Tobias had already parked the car and set the gear back to neutral.

“Go on ahead, and don't wait up. I have something else to attend to and won't be back till late.”

Skylar's response was blunt. “Go sleep in the guest room if you're not going to be back in early so that

you don't disturb my rest.”

Tobias nodded in acknowledgment amidst concern that Skylar would still be lying on the bed when he

returned, ogling at that man inside her phone.

He had just only overheard in passing today Madelyn mentioning that she personally saw the usually

frugal Skylar sending that streamer gifts, and how depressed the latter became after splurging a few

thousand doing that.

When Skylar was about to alight, Tobias seized her by the arm with his large mitt and pulled her into his

embrace. “Won't you give me a kiss goodbye?”

The acquiescent Skylar planted a wet one on Tobias' cheek. As security in the residential area was

good, it was only here that Skylar could express herself without inhibition.

Tobias pointed to the region on his dress pants that had been bulged out of shape. “I didn't ask for you

to kiss my face.”

Skylar immediately flushed from ear to ear and promptly pulled herself back, as she was afraid that

Tobias might actually unbuckle his belt and force her head down.

“Don't you have hands for that?”

“Settling things in the car with my own hands? I'm not that desperate.”

Skylar face-palmed herself. So he means for me to use my mouth? Swiftly, she opened the car door

and scooted out as though her life depended on it.

The weather outside was bitterly frigid. After she alighted from the car, Skylar hugged herself as she

raced homeward, unable to even flex the hands that she had left exposed.

In the south, the climate tended to be wet and cold. As such, it was more punishing compared to the

arid frostiness of the north. All she could think about right then was getting herself indoors to take a hot

bath before snuggling inside the warmth of her quilt.

When she was younger, at around the age of twenty-six or twenty-seven, she was still fantasizing

about what her marital life would be like.

While hell froze over outside the house, it would be as cozy as spring inside. Two of us would huddle

together under the sheets and binge on television. We would even own a Corgi.

Skylar, too, was capable of maturing fast even as she reflected upon this now. That sort of scenario

was clearly out of place when projected upon Tobias.

He would never have the leisureliness to laze around in bed with her, catch drama serials, or chat with

her like that. Even his time at home was forever defined by his up-tempo busyness, the majority of

which would be spent holed up inside the study.

As soon as Skylar stepped inside the doors, she blew a breath of warmth into her own cupped palms.

In the knowledge that Skylar had gone to attend her father's birthday party, Madelyn was certain that

the former would have eaten before she came home. Hence, she did not prepare dinner and served up

a dollop of pumpkin soup from the pot instead.

White vapors spiraled up from within the bowl. In the thick of winter, Madelyn still made piping hot

pumpkin soup. Skylar lapped up a few spoonfuls of that but found it to be rather lacking in flavor.

“Your mother brought this over, but only stayed a while when she saw that you weren't around.”

Skylar could tell from Madelyn's sour expression that Miranda must have told her something

unpleasant. That spiteful woman. She just had to make everyone around her miserable.

“Did she leave a message?” Skylar placed down the spoon and asked.

“Yes. She would like you to follow up on the issue of the house promptly. Said that your Uncle Wesley

is almost getting depressed waiting on it day after day and that she might have to bring this up with Mr.

Ford herself if you won't resolve this.”

Suddenly, Skylar felt the burn of the pumpkin soup at the back of her throat. So, Miranda was here with

a motive.

Meanwhile, Tobias drove out to meet up with Susan. The latter had been waiting at that café by the

corner of the street since an hour ago but dared not hurry him even though she knew he was late.

Susan knew Tobias well, having been by his side for as long as she did. He was the sort who was

particular about punctuality and, barring exceptional circumstances, would always show up on time.

When they convened, she handed the paper bag over.

Once Tobias received it, he went on to uncoil the string on top. His eyes lit up when he saw the results Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

daughter of Truman Varnes.
