Chapter 809
All the uncles were dumbfounded, unable to find the right words. The whole Reyes family leaned heavily on Karter; they were a group of folks with pretty average abilities. They hadn't really contributed much to the family, so at this point, they didn't have a leg to stand on. Naturally, they all turned their eyes to Ryan.
"Ryan, aren't you going to say something to Adrian? You've been Karter's right-hand man for ages; surely, you have something to say!"
Ryan had been Karter's companion for over thirty years, ever since Karter was just a kid. In this household, he had more say than Adrian, the young master himself.
"I'm just a servant; I don't have the right to question the young master's decisions," Ryan replied after a brief pause.
They'd already done their research. Flora had really made a splash in the preliminary competition. With a mother as remarkable as hers, she wasn't likely to be any less impressive. Ryan couldn't help but trust her. Plus, despite Karter's trust in him, Ryan was still a servant of the Reyes family, while Adrian was the master. Publicly contradicting Adrian would only embarrass him.
"Flora, could you please check on my dad?" Adrian urged, knowing every second counted for his father's well-being.
"Sure thing."
Flora stepped toward the bedside, leaving Abbey standing there under a cloud of gloom.
Great! Just great! Adrian was going to regret not trusting her medical skills and putting his faith in Flora instead! Despite her intense anger, Abbey didn't leave. She didn't believe Flora could heal Karter without surgery. She was here to watch Flora fail.
Flora quickly assessed Karter's condition. On the way over, Kruz had filled her in on some of Karter's health issues, which lined up with her expectations.
"Kruz, hand me my bag," she called out. Kruz quickly passed her backpack to her. Flora unzipped.it and took out some aromatic herbs she'd prepared, along with a set of silver needles.
"I also need a couple of pounds of mugwort and some hot water," she added, and Adrian promptly instructed someone to get them ready.
Aromatic herbs, mugwort, hot water-what on earth was Flora planning?
Abbey couldn't hold back any longer. "Flora, Mr. Johnson's condition is critical. If you keep this up, you're going to make it worse!"
"Quiet," Flora snapped, frowning slightly. She wasn't mincing words. "Adrian, please ask her to leave."
The room went silent for a moment. No one expected Flora to be so bold. Did she realize who she was talking to? She had directly told Abbey to get out.
Adrian coughed, trying to hide a smirk. He really appreciated Flora's spirit! But since Abbey had come specifically to treat his father, he couldn't be too blunt. Instead, he said tactfully, "Ms. Abbey, you must be exhausted. We've got some tea and pastries outside; why don't you take a break and try them?"
This was clearly siding with Flora. Abbey's face shifted from pale to flushed, and she let out a cold laugh, almost hissing through her teeth, before storming off.
The Reyes family's uncles quickly followed, "Ms. Abbey, please don't be upset. Adrian's always been like this; he's just under that woman's spell."

Just then, an excited shout from Adrian echoed from the room!
