Few minutes later, the maids push the cake on a stroller into the dining.

“That’s huuuge”Jack gushed in excitement.

Everyone was distracted admiring the cake, I thought of it as a time to talk to my sister, I quickly turned to Abigail.

“I just received the package, I ordered an hour ago, they’re fast”

I whispered.

“What package?”

Abigail asked like an air-headed person.

“From precious jewelry store, I ordered a diamond engagement ring remember I told you before you went into the room”

I replied little disappointed.

“You want to do it already, are you sure?”she whispered back.

“Yeah, I want to show that cow that she is mine now, he pisses me off, also I think today is a great day to do it, with Mom and Dad present”. I replied with finality.

“Well.. she is yours but that’s actually after the wedding”Abigail stated.

I frowned at her.

“Just take it and put it in her glass of wine, I will distract her with maybe a kiss”.

She raised her brows, and tilt her head in agreement, I gave her the ring codedly.

My hands started sweating , I suddenly felt this intense nervousness, what if she says no, following what happened earlier, my heart can’t take it.

“We are waiting Bruno , go cut the cake, what you two doing?”Mom snapped interrupting in my thoughts.

She suspected our movement and gaze from one person to another.

I sighed nervously and got up, to deliver a speech before going ahead to cut the cake.

“Thanks everyone for your love and care, your presence is everything, well I won’t say I love the surprise… to be honest….”.

My cousins laughed .

“Thanks alot Fam”.

I concluded.

They applauded loudly.

I wanted to blow off the 25 candle lights then Abigail interrupted.

“Make a wish first silly”my sister said tartly.

I chuckled embarrassed.

“Opps, my bad, a wish first. …”

I looked up and my eyes met with Beauty’s , she blushed then looked down, I saw my sister put the ring in her glass of wine.

I closed my eyes slowly , nervously and made my wish.

I wish Beauty would say yes to me and I wish, my family will accept and treat her as one of our own.

I opened my eyes and started blowing of the candle lights after that, I cut the cake and everyone came with their plates to take a portion , except Steven.

I cut out for Beauty in a plate and walked back to the table.

“Here you go”

I handed it to her.

“Thanks”she replied with red cheeks, I smiled back softly.

My younger cousins , 2 in number, age 7 and 11 played roughly with the cake but we all ignored them.

“So beauty, when next are you visiting us?”

My Mom asked all of a sudden , it was unexpected, Beauty don’t even know what to say. Everyone at the table was surprised too.

“I… I..”

She glance at my dad, who seem not interested at all in anything that concern our relationship ever since grandma talked to him , he just decided not to say a word, which is fine by me, by the way, I don’t need his approval.

“Why not sleepover tonight, the party will take place fully this night”

My sister added.

Beauty just nodded but I could tell she doesn’t want to stay anymore than just this dinner time.

“To Bruno, we wish you a very happy birthday, and all the best in your life, happy birthday baby”Grandma called the toast.

“Cheers”.

We all chorused, everyone stood on their feet and clincked our glasses after we got back on our seats.

My heart raced, as I stole a gaze at Beauty and noticed she took a sip from her drink.

Abigail pinched me, and winked, she was being silly, and obvious, I frowned at her.

I took my glass of wine and drank from it impatiently, my hands shaking nervously.

Then suddenly the sound of shattered glass, make me spill up.

Everyone was looking at me confused, then I realized they were looking at beauty actually .

Steven and his fiancee were amused hoping she embarrassed herself more, my Dad face looked like he’s been holding back from insulting her again.

Beauty looked up at Granny confused, she opened her mouth slowly, but couldn’t voice it out.

“What happened dear”

My mom asked curious.

Beauty was shocked and embarrassed

I lean over to her and whispered.

“What happened love?”

“Something is in my wine”

she whispered to me, nervously.

“What .. is it?”

I whispered back with a straight trying to hide my amusement.

“I don’t know, it’s shiny, I almost swallowed it, so I dropped the glass unintentionally, am sorry for the embarrassment”she replied.

Everyone was still staring at us curious except my sister Abigail who was obviously trying not to crack up.

A maid tried to clean the place up , I stopped her.

I got up from the seat to pick the expensive diamond ring up, before I lose it, it’s too expensive to be careless about.

“What happened ?”Abigail asked Beauty, trying to distract her attention from me.

Beauty leaned over to her trying to explain to her in a whisper, how she saw a shiny object in her drink, then i got to my knees.

“What’s he doing?”My uncle questioned.

Dad just glanced and didn’t say a word but his face days it all, he was furious!

“Bruno..”.

My mother gasped shocked.

My cousins took their phone and started recording excitedly, they didn’t want to miss it, the maids gathered too.

The room was hot with mumbling and side talks but that’s their own shit.

Beauty’s mouth was ajar, her jaw dropped, her eyes grew bigger, she looked all tensed up and uncomfortable, it worried me.

I swallowed hard before going on to ask the big question.
