Chapter 667: Is Tina a Substitute for His First Love?
Natalie's identity was top secret, known only to a select few. The nurses and doctors at the hospital, lacking the necessary clearance, were oblivious to the details. They only knew that Jared had brought in a VIP patient, a woman of unparalleled beauty.
Lysander couldn't take the gossip any longer, "Have you no brains? What's so good about someone who's playing two sides?"
His sudden outburst startled the two young nurses, who quickly exited the elevator. Inside, Lysander couldn't contain himself, "How could Jared do this? He actually had Tina serve his first love! Sick! They shouldn't be allowed to live!" Once out of the elevator, Lysander used his pass to reach the top floor. Seeing the guards there, he presented the Mountain Veil Order token. Recognized as the token of their leader, they let him through without question. "The young master isn't here. Please wait over here," one of the guards suggested, assuming Lysander was there to see Tina.
Lysander stored his token, "No need to worry about me. I'm just having a look. Don't tell Tina I was here; I don't want to disturb her."
"Understood."
After instructing them, Lysander approached the hospital room. Through the glass, he saw Jared tenderly wiping a woman's forehead with a handkerchief, a level of care that was uncharacteristic of him. It was clear to Lysander now. This person was indeed Jared's first love.
"Jared, you scoundrel, isn't Tina enough for you?" he thought angrily, preparing to confront them but decided against it. He needed to wake Tina up first, to stop her from being manipulated by this old rogue any longer. With that in mind, Lysander turned and left. As he re-entered the elevator, Tina emerged from an office, catching only a glimpse of his retreating figure.
"Was that Lysander? Why didn't he look for me?"
Tina didn't dwell on it and entered the hospital room, "How is it going? Did you manage to wipe my mom's face?"
Jared, sweating, replied, "Tina, did I do a good job?"
Tina pinched the bridge of her nose, "Uncle, you really have no talent for this kind of work. Let me do it."
She was only asking Jared to wipe Natalie's face, but he managed only to wipe her forehead. Jared scratched his head, "I think I did it very clean."
"The way you wiped my mom's face, you might as well have redrawn her soul," Tina said as she re-wet the handkerchief and began to wipe Natalie's face properly.
Angela, sitting in a corner, couldn't stand watching any longer, "Let me do it. You haven't even wrung the handkerchief properly; water is getting into Alina's mouth." Tina questioned, "Really? I didn't notice..."
Jared added, "Tina, admit it, we're not the careful type!"
The task of wiping Natalie was handed over to Angela.
Meanwhile, Lysander, fuming, left the hospital and immediately ran into Stephanie.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
"I finally caught up with you. I just remembered this photo; it looks very strange. Take a look," Stephanie pulled Lysander aside and handed him a photo.
Lysander, seeing the prominent GTO logo on Natalie's clothing, his gaze hardened.
"Where did you find this?"

Stephanie noticed the change in his eyes, "I found it in Jared's bedside drawer. I thought it was Tina at first, but upon closer inspection, it clearly wasn't. I knew Jared wouldn't treat Tina so well for no reason. He must be using her as a substitute."
Stephanie had created a whole narrative in her mind just from their brief conversation. The idea of a substitute for a first love, how cliché, yet it turned out to be true.
Lysander stared at the GTO logo, deep in thought. Was Natalie really with GTO? What was her purpose in coming back? Was she sent by the Five Poisons to get close to Jared and target Tina? She could not stay!
"I need to go tell Tina!" Lysander decided.
Stephanie blocked his way, "No, you can't do that! Would that not be betraying me? I still want to stay with the Farrell family. Lysander, you can't be so selfish!"
"What do you know? This woman, Natalie, is very dangerous. I can't let her be a threat to Tina!"
"Why not handle it yourself then? You're capable enough. If it were Jared, he'd just snap his fingers and have her dealt with. Why drag Tina into this?"
Stephanie's words suddenly enlightened Lysander.
"Right, I can handle this myself."
Relieved, Stephanie saw that Lysander had taken the bait.
"You still haven't told me, what's so dangerous about Natalie?"
Lysander lowered his gaze, his voice dropping, "She's part of a dangerous organization. I can't let her anywhere near Tina."
"Do you need my help? It won't be easy to move someone from the hospital on your own," Stephanie prodded, inching closer to her goal. The Five Poisons had tasked her to ensure Natalie's demise personally. Lysander looked her over, "Alright, let's meet tonight downstairs at the hospital. I'll go prepare."
"Okay, it's a date," Stephanie agreed, relieved as they parted ways. Lysander watched her leave, then turned back towards the hospital.
That night, under a bright moon, the hospital was eerily silent. At the VIP room on the top floor, the guards, seemingly dozing off in their chairs, hadn't noticed Lysander and Stephanie's light footsteps approaching. Stephanie clung to Lysander's wrist, her body and mind trembling with fear. Too many ghost stories start in hospitals, she thought, terrified of being there in the dead of night.
"Slow down, I can't keep up!" Stephanie whispered urgently, gripping him tightly.
Lysander, annoyed, whispered back, "Do you know how many guards Jared has placed here? If we wake them, neither of us will get out."
Stephanie had no choice but to keep quiet, following silently.
They reached the guards by the hospital room, who seemed even more deeply asleep than before.
"Did they really not notice us?" Stephanie wondered.
"No," Lysander pointed to a mosquito coil dish nearby, "That's a sleeping drug. I switched it out when I came this afternoon."
Realization dawned on Stephanie, "You're always one step ahead. Let's go in."
