Chapter 681: Edwin, the Third Son of the Pace Family
Edwin did not respond immediately.
"Before we determine the truth of the matter, let's not jump to conclusions, Boris. What do the doctors say now?"
Boris pursed his lips.
"The doctors say it depends on how he responds to the treatment. I don't know when Dad will wake up. Ah, things at home are now a mess. I don't know what to do."
"You've always managed our household affairs. I'll stay at the hospital; you go back and handle things at home. Keep Dad's condition under wraps. Don't let the word get out to avoid panic at the company and with the X Bureau. Also, have a few more people guard the hospital. I'm worried that someone else might try to harm Dad."
Edwin arranged everything methodically, as if he were the one in charge.
Boris didn't say much but did as Edwin instructed.
Christopher couldn't help but complain to Linden, "Compared to him, Boris is really useless."Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Linden stealthily glanced at him.
"Why do you talk so much?"
Christopher choked on his words, realizing that no matter how long they worked together, he and Linden just didn't mesh well!
After Boris left, Edwin approached to greet them.
"Chief Linden and Christopher, right? I'm Edwin Pace."
"Mr. Pace, I've long admired your name," Linden replied, shaking Edwin's hand.
"Regarding Leo's case, the X Bureau will investigate thoroughly and not shield anyone. Please rest assured, Mr. Pace."
Edwin pushed his glasses up, a cold smile playing on his lips.
"Chief Linden, I suggest not focusing solely on Jared. Although he's the prime suspect, he has no reason to harm my father. I've heard of him before; my father praised him. There might be another reason for this incident. If you need my assistance, feel free to ask."
Hearing this, Linden finally showed some relief.
At last, there was someone sensible to talk to.
"We will consider Mr. Pace's suggestion. We have other matters at the bureau, so we'll be leaving now. Please inform us if there's any news about Leo."
After saying this, Linden and Christopher made their move to leave.
Unexpectedly, Edwin called out to Christopher.
"Chief Christopher, where is Natalie?"
Christopher paused, looking Edwin up and down as if suspecting his intentions.
"What do you want with our boss?"
Linden was also surprised. How did Edwin know Natalie?
Edwin smiled.
"I've always heard my father mention her; I was hoping to meet her."
"She's not available right now," Christopher's eyes narrowed slightly.
This Edwin clearly had ulterior motives!
Edwin nodded slightly.
"I understand. Thank you."
Christopher no longer paid him any mind and left with his cane.
Once outside, Linden couldn't help but ask, "Does Everett know Edwin? Were they...?"
Christopher snapped irritably, "Why do you talk so much?"
Linden fell silent, embarrassed.
Driving silently, Nathan didn't say much. After all, these two chiefs were always at odds, either disliking each other or annoying each other.

Meanwhile, Nathan sent a coded message to Tina.
"Everyone's in my car."
Tina, having received the message, was already leading a formidable group to the X Bureau's detention prison.
Ray, the guard, saw Tina with difficulty.
"Ma'am, Mr. Farrell will definitely not suffer here. Could you please go back for now? This place is filled with our own people. Once the investigation is over, Mr. Farrell will be released. I'm begging you!" Tina stood there with a stern face, "I must see him in person."
Ray was almost ready to kneel before Tina, "Ma'am, it really isn't possible right now, Mr. Farrell is involved in a serious matter, and if you barge in, it'll only make things worse!"
"I can't worry about that!"
Tina was never impulsive. Even before she received Nathan's call, she had gotten a text message.
"Joshua."
It was just one word, and the source of the message was untraceable.
Tina was unsure of the sender's intentions and paid it no further attention.
But after she received the news of Jared's accident, she understood what it meant.
Although Jared wouldn't suffer inside, she knew that if he remained confined, chaos would inevitably ensue outside.
Clearly, this was a targeted move!
It was obvious someone wanted to use Jared to exchange for Joshua!
"Ma'am, I assure you Mr. Farrell won't lose a single hair, please, just go back!" Ray was on the verge of tears.
Someone help, who can persuade her!

Two team leaders were incapacitated in the hospital, and the chief, along with his deputies, was scrambling across the city in a jammed signal zone, out of reach!
Tina raised her hand, and numerous firearms aimed at the secret prison holding Jared.
Even Ray's body was dotted with several red laser points.
"I don't want to make this difficult for you, step aside," Tina waved a hand at Ray.
Ray felt helpless, but he couldn't raise his gun; he had to stand his ground, "Ma'am, it's my duty, I can't step aside."
Tina nodded, "Alright, then don't blame me for being impolite."
As she was about to throw a tranquilizer dart, a commanding voice called out, "Tina!"
Suddenly, from behind, Ian's strong voice echoed, and everyone turned to see it was indeed Ian!
Ray recognized Ian and breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, perhaps now they could take the lady away!
Supported by his four sons, Ian approached and stood behind Tina, speaking earnestly, "Tina, how many times has Grandpa told you not to be so impulsive? A girl should be gentle, right?"
Just yesterday, after seeing Jared whisk Tina away to get married, Ian nearly had a heart attack. The entire Brookes family mobilized to find them, even visiting the Farrell family.
After much persuasion from Logan, Ian had calmed down slightly, and both families tried to contact Jared and Tina to celebrate, only to find themselves embroiled in this crisis.
Upon receiving the news, Ian hurried over, setting aside his grievances about Jared deceiving his granddaughter. After all, Jared was now his grandson-in-law, and he couldn't just sit by if his grandson-in-law was in trouble. Ray and everyone at the X Bureau agreed: Yes, yes, you're absolutely right, please take the lady away quickly!
Then Ian said, "Look, we have the keys, let's call off the mortar and all that!"
Hearing this, the people at the X Bureau nearly spat blood!
It turned out Ian had come with the keys to aid Tina in a jailbreak!
