Love’ss 166
Roger had spent years abroad and only returned three days ago. After Lance’s passing, Roger pursued his
career overseas.
Madelyn and Roger had spent ten years growing up together in the Miller residence. They were close all that time, and Roger often took her to school.
However, after Lance’s death, their relationship became strained because of Andrew. Roger didn’t even return for Madelyn and Andrew’s wedding.
Roger smiled as he asked, “What are you holding?”
“Nothing important. Are you heading in? I should get going,” Madelyn replied hastily.
With that, she tried to turn toward her car.
However, Roger quickly grabbed her arm..
“Why are you running? Are you afraid I’ll hit you?”
He noticed the large bag of medicine she was carrying and frowned.
“Are you sick?”
“No. These are just some supplements, Madelyn responded.
“That many just for supplements?”
Roger was skeptical.
“You run a hospital. Shouldn’t you be happy we’re buying more medicine? Isn’t that what you want?” Madelyn shot back.
She successfully made Roger pause.
When she was at the Miller residence in her youth, she had always been sharp–tongued. Now, she seemed
even more stubborn. Roger felt that it was all because Andrew had spoiled her rotten.
Roger checked the time and said, “It’s noon. Let’s grab lunch. Kevin is here too.”
“Kevin’s back as well?”
“Yes. Let’s go!”
Madelyn didn’t want to go.
Noticing her reluctance, Roger teased, “Your husband’s also there. Can we go now, Maddie?”
Madelyn wrinkled her nose and glared at him but ultimately relented. She placed the medicine in her car and got into Roger’s vehicle. Roger instructed the hospital’s ambulance driver to deliver her car to Serenity Villa.
Madelyn asked, “Weren’t you headed inside?”
“I just remembered that the document won’t be needed today,” Roger replied.
Madelyn fell silent. She struggled to find a topic to speak about with Roger.
Roger and Kevin had been closest to Andrew in the past. However, their last encounter was at Lance’s funeral.
Perhaps their wedding was too hastily organized, but neither Roger nor Kevin had returned for it. This was
partly influenced by the stipulations in Lance’s will.
With a smile, Roger observed her quiet demeanor.
“Why are you being so quiet? That’s not like you.”
“What kind of temperament do you think I have, Roger? Madelyn asked.
“Aren’t you the spirited one? You’ve caused quite a scene for Andrew these years, haven’t you?” Roger teased.
Madelyn was speechless. Upon hearing his words, her face reddened with embarrassment.
Roger saw her embarrassment and teased her even further.
“How did you even fall for Easton back then?”
“Roger, please don’t say that!”
Roger’s comment made Madelyn wish she could just disappear. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Since her rebirth, Madelyn has often pondered a solemn question: What did she see in Easton that made her fall head over heels for him?
By her standards, she could never have fallen for someone so cowardly. Something must have gone wrong somewhere.
It felt like there was a gap in her memory. She couldn’t piece it together despite how hard she tried to
recall.
“Well, you finally realize you lost your mind back then?” Roger teased.
He noticed her embarrassment and did not intend to let her off the hook.
Madelyn nodded.
“Yeah. I must have been out of my mind.”
If she hadn’t been, there was no way she would have liked a bastard like Easton.
Kevin and Andrew were already at the restaurant when Madelyn and Roger arrived. They were both dressed in suits. With Roger joining the group, their formal attire made the meeting look very official.
Madelyn glanced down at her dress with a Peter Pan collar and suddenly felt self–conscious. She pondered whether Andrew still viewed her as a child.
She wondered why her daily outfits seemed so juvenil
