Chapter 8

“M-Me?” Chloe stuttered. “I didn’t know anything. I lost track of her when she left Silver Blade. I had no idea of whom she was with…”

“You said and I quote, ‘you are a commoner who was rejected by my Alpha and ended up as the rogue’s w**e. If you didn’t know where she was at, why would you call her ‘the rogue’s w**e’?”

Under the weight of Damien’s gaze, Chloe quivered.

Her inner soul was shivering with fear!

This was her darkest secret.

When Damien rejected Aurora, he only ordered her to be expelled from Silver Blade Pack.

It was her, Chloe, who made contact with a group of rogues, bribed the jailer and the escorting soldiers and had Aurora sent to the rogues.

Merely expelling Aurora was not enough for her! She need Aurora to be tortured, humiliated and killed!

But who would have thought that Aurora would make her way back from hell and even become a noble princess?!

No. She couldn’t let Damien find out about what she did.

Damien hated traitors.

If he found out that she colluded with the rogues behind his back, he would be infuriated.

He would kill her.

“It’s…just a random guess.” Chloe said, blinking her eyes. “We were having border issues with the rogues when you expelled Aurora. So I thought…maybe she would bump into them…”

Damien frowned. His grip on her chin loosened.

Seeing that he had bought her lies, Chloe leant forward and whispered into his ears:

“And if you ask me…Aurora must have learned some furtive, dirty tricks from the rogues and have Alpha Lance fooled. We should look into this, Damien. Alpha Lance will thank us for this…”

Damien let go of her and straightened his back.

“No.” He rejected her proposal firmly, “I have a much more important task here than going after Aurora. So keep your hands out of it, Chloe, and stop causing me more troubles. Or I will have you sent back home immediately.

Chloe nibbled her lips, frustrated, “…Fine.”

“Now let’s go. The opening gala was about to begin. You still need to give Aurora that gift.”

Damien walked away in long strides.

When he was not looking, a vicious look appeared on Chloe’s face.

Aurora…that lucky b**h!.

She took away Aurora’s wealthy parents. But Aurora found herself a even more powerful family-an Alpha this

time!

How on earth did Aurora manage that?!

If Damien wouldn’t dig into this, she would!

And she would not let Aurora come between her and Damien again. She was so close to become his Luna!

She had got to find a way to sabotage Aurora’s image in front of Damien again…

The opening gala began at 7 p.m.

The grand hall was packed with Alphas and officers from packs around the world.

As the host of the night, Lance first made a welcoming speech.

Then he came to Aurora and took her hand into the dancefloor.

With a beautiful music playing in the background, they danced the first song.

All guests’ eyes were on them.

Alpha Lance had always been the center of attention. But Aurora received more attentions tonight,

Chloe gritted in fume.

She was very proud of her adopted family before tonight. The Ravenwood was filthy rich. Thanks to them, she could finally afford some luxury gowns.

Yet compared to Alpha Lance, the Ravenwood was basically nothing!

She was losing to Aurora. AGAIN!

“She has always been a huge snob.” Chloe kept stirring things up. “Remember how she begged you not to reject her? She screamed in tears saying that she loved you…Yet now, it’s only been 6 months, and she acted like she didn’t even know you! What an ungrateful b**h…”

Damien turned to her with a sullen face.

“No more calling her a b**h. Do you have that gift ready?”

Chloe pouted, “…Yes.”

“Then go and do you job. Do not make me regret bringing you here,” said Damien coldly.

When the first dance was over, Lance and Aurora exited the dancefloor together and got up to their seats.

Damien was at the other side of the hall talking to other Alphas. Chloe took this chance and walked up to them.

Seeing Chloe approaching, the soldiers stationed around Aurora and Lance immediately stepped forward to prevent her from getting any closer.

“Keep out! This is the VIP booth!” the soldier scolded.

Chloe was furious inside. She forced a smile and said, “I want to see Princess Aurora…I have a gift for her.”

The soldier remained cold and unyielding, pointing a sword at Chloe.

“It’s OK. Let her through!” Aurora raised her voice and said.

Chloe was finally allowed into the VIP booths. She slowly made her way to the table, holding her head down.

“What do you need, Chloe?” Aurora leant against the table, looking relaxed, and asked with a raised eyebrow.

Chloe found her voice dry and nervous. She quickly cleared her throat before continuing

“I have a gift for you. I hope you can forget about our disagreement in the past and be friends from now on…”

Aurora chuckled. Lance rolled his eyes and said in a firm voice, “My sister don’t care for your s**d gift!”

Chloe swayed on her feet. Tears were circling in her eyes again.

Chloe reached into her pocket and slowly pulled out a long, velvet box.

Opening up, a gold brooch adored with emerald lay on the c**n.

Aurora took a casual glance at it and nodded, “Pretty.”

A casual glance at the brooch told her that it was gold-plated rather than pure gold, and the quality of the emerald was far from exceptional.

Even the lesser nobles wouldn’t care to have it.

But Aurora didn’t want to start another cat-fight with Chloe, at least not tonight in front of all the guests. So she gave a casual nod at the brooch and said:

“You can leave it with me. Enjoy the rest of your evening with Alpha Damien.”

Chloe extended her hand, offering the velvet box to Aurora.

But just as Aurora reached to take it, Chloe suddenly let go!

The box plummeted to the floor, causing the emerald brooch to fall out-
