Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3128

Chapter 3128

Grandma May would always say that she did not have much time left to eat due to her old age. She wanted them to stop controlling her and leave her to eat whatever she wanted.

Even Zachary would lose to the eloquent Old Mrs. York, let alone her younger grandsons.

Sometimes, Grandma May would feel smug and say that she was the one who raised all her grandsons. They could never escape her grasp, so they should not even think of controlling her.

Jovanne said, “I shall have some then. I don’t know how good the desserts here are.” Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

She loved making desserts.

She ran a dessert store, and business was booming.

Austin’s attentiveness had left a good impression on Jovanne.

She ordered a few desserts based on her preference.

After the waiter took their orders, Weston explained, “I happened to see you when you went for the interview at the O’Connors’ as I was nearby. Actually, I came out before it was your turn to go in.”

Weston did not know how he did in the interview.

As he was anxious about it, he did not leave immediately but chose to linger around the manor.

By coincidence, he spotted Austin who was going in for the interview.

Weston remembered his face. After asking around, he realized that Austin lived in the same hotel as he and Jovanne.

Therefore, Weston knocked on Austin’s door abruptly to talk to his competitor and get to know him better. He also wanted to find out who else went for the interview besides them.

Austin smiled warmly. “I see. I was thinking how you knew me.

“How was your interview?”

Weston said sheepishly, “I don’t know. I’m still waiting for the butler’s reply.”

After a pause, he added, “To be frank, this is my third time interviewing for this position. My first try was ten years ago. Back then, Ms. O’Connor hadn’t even come of age yet. The O’Connors have more females than males, and the older family members aren’t in good health.

“I heard that Ms. O’Connor started helping her parents manage the family business during her vacations ever since she was fifteen.

“That was why she had significant authority within the family when I went for my first interview back then. She was the one who requested a change of chefs every time. Hence, it’s natural for her to decide who gets hired.”

Weston recalled how his first interview with the O’Connors went.

He said, “Back then, many colleagues in the industry applied for the position. At that time, everyone simply wanted the high salary offered by the O’Connors.

“Things are different now. Everyone wants the money, fame, and reputation. Even if one were to be fired from the family, there’d be hotels and other wealthy families fighting to hire them by offering high salaries.”

Austin was speechless.

It seemed like he did not know Isabella well enough.

He waited for Weston to continue.

“Everybody thought satisfying the palate of a sixteen-year-old girl was easy with their excellent skills. After all, only chefs who had a certain amount of experience had dared to apply for the position.

“They thought it’d be easy to get the job as they had a lot of working experience and knowledge of various cuisines.

“However, many were eliminated in the end. Even I, who was confident, did not make it into the second round. They said Ms. O’Connor liked the dishes I made but not their taste.

“She commented that my dishes looked attractive but tasted mediocre.”

Weston’s face flushed with embarrassment.

Another long pause later, he continued, “After failing the interview and receiving Ms. O’Connor’s comment, I was in great shock. I couldn’t shake off the trauma of that comment for some time.

“After going back home, I continued to work as a chef. However, I no longer found the food I made delicious.”
