“Max”, I softly murmured as I slid next to him in class and touched his arm lightly. “I am sorry. I didn’t know”, I tried to reason while trying to scoot as close to him as possible.

He grunted in response but refused to face me.

“Wh- where a-are we going ?”, Max rambled in surprise and almost tripped over his own feet when I literally dragged him down the stairs and out of the classroom.

“Hello, who is this ? Yes this is her assistant speaking .… Uh huh …. ok …. alright …. Yes, I will inform the Dean …. Sure thing. Thank you …. Good day to you too”

“Who was it ?”, the Dean asked as she placed a few papers which needed to be photocopied on her assistant’s table.

“The National Disciplinary Board of Central Universities called”, the assistant informed trying to keep herself from bouncing out of her seat as she would be assistant to one of the most noted educational authorities soon !

It was like reaching the Hall of Fame for assistants.

“And ?”, the Dean asked with a frown forming on her well aged face.

“And they offered its Directorship to you !!”, the assistant squealed excitedly before the Dean’s eyes lit up.

“They did ?!”, she exclaimed in surprise.

“Yes !!”, the assistant excitedly responded back before hugging the elder woman and mother figure of her life.

“This is good news ! But what about Lisa, the Director’s wife ?”, the Dean asked.

“Gone to the banks of the holy Ganges to meditate for the rest of her life”, the young lady chirped back. “Inner peace, you know”, she added more seriously this time.

“Hmm good for her. I envy her now. Although, I want you to make immediate preparations to transfer all my present powers and duties as a Dean to Ms Pierce”, the elder one ordered.

“But she is so young and inexperienced !”, the assistant exclaimed in shock.

“Only young. Not inexperienced. I believe in her”, the Dean corrected her. “She shares the same passion for teaching and administering in this university like me. Now do as I say …. ”

Bella’s POV

“Aa- aaaaahhhhh ! You are crazy, babe !”, I moaned through the mindlink after the teacher switched off the lights, drew the curtains over the windows and darkened the room to switch on the projector and show his presentation on Macroeconomics on the white board.
