The Cherished Wife

Chapter 325

Ronald was more than just an assistant. He had been running Royal Star Entertainment and Curio Corner for Charles, proving he could stand on his own two feet.

"Go ahead," Charles encouraged.

"Royal Star Entertainment is looking to put money into a few new movies. Ruby's made up a list, and I'll email it to you first thing in the morning." Even though Ronald ran things at Royal Star Entertainment, he always made sure to fill Charles in on the big decisions.

Charles rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Movies?" He drummed his fingers on the desk. "When's Winter's TV show going to start filming?" "Middle of next month," Ronald replied, then hesitated. "Mr. Hoffman, Winter's wedding is in three days. Did you get the invite?"

Charles's smile said it all.

Joseph, the sly old fox, would not pass up that chance. Xavier marrying Winter was a big deal, and Joseph would definitely want Charles in on it. Charles had a reputation in Brookville, after all. If he did not use it then, where would he?

"Are you going to the wedding, Mr. Hoffman?" Ronald wondered. Noelle had married Charles, and since she was Winter's sister, she would definitely be there. Ronald knew Winter might cause trouble for Noelle because of their rocky relationship.

Charles was super protective of Noelle, so Ronald guessed he would show up too. However, since no one knew Charles and Noelle were married, it was hard to guess what Charles would do.

Charles squinted, resting his chin on his hand, and stared at Ronald through the video call without saying a word. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronald squirmed in his seat, feeling like he had just said something dumb. "Mr. Hoffman..."

"What's happening in Kerlsberg?" Charles asked out of the blue. Ronald blinked, then replied, "It's quiet. Ever since they went after Madam, nothing's happened. What should we do, Mr. Hoffman?"

"If there's no news, we'll leave it be,"

Charles said

aid with

a wave of his

hand. "Take care of the movie stuff on your own. You don't need to tell me everything." He paused, then added, "Drop by Curio Corner tomorrow morning and pick up a painting for me, will you?"

"Sure thing!" Ronald said.

Charles clicked off his video chat and drummed his fingers on the desk. He spun his chair around, his eyes drawn to the thick, dark night sky outside the window. The sound of the trees rustling in the fierce wind made his gaze grow more intense.

The autumn wind was wild and carefree. He stood by the window for a long while before he finally closed the curtains and headed back to his bedroom.

Only one lamp was left on in the bedroom, casting a soft yellow glow. The person in the bed was already fast asleep. He tiptoed into the covers.

Noelle, as if sensing him, turned and wrapped her arms around his waist, snuggling close to him.

Charles smiled gently, wrapped his arms around Noelle's slender frame, and pulled her close. He held her softly, his chin resting on her head, his hand gently stroking her back. As Noelle settled down, he closed his eyes.

Noelle felt like she was cuddling a warm furnace. She slept soundly all night.

In the morning, she noticed Charles had not gotten up, which was unusual for him. His eyes were closed, and he looked different from the Charles she usually saw.

Charles, when asleep and peaceful,

seemed completely harmless. Noelle knew him to be good-natured, but she also knew his temper could be scary. She might not have seen the Charles that rumors spoke of, but she was aware of his reputation.
