The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 208

Chapter 208

On the way home, Cordelia received a message from Shelley: "Tell Ronan not to pamper Adrian so

much."

"Mum, I've already talked to him about it," Cordelia replied. She was also concerned that Ronan's

pampering of Adrian might have negative effects. But Adrian was currently on cloud nine, and being a

greedy guts, he wouldn't heed anyone's advice.

"That's good then," Shelley replied.

Cordelia's gut told her that Ronan's intentions towards Adrian weren't as simple as they seemed.

While Cordelia was occupied with her phone, Brenda sent her a message on Messenger: [Cordelia,

fancy catching up when you're free?]

"Now?" Cordelia replied.

"I'm at Bean & Brew, going through some financial reports. You can drop by if you're up for it," Brenda Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

replied.

Cordelia checked her phone's navigation and found that Bean & Brew was just around the corner.

"Hon, Brenda is nearby, and she wants to catch up. Is that okay?" Cordelia asked Ronan.

Ronan had an inkling about what Brenda wanted to discuss with Cordelia. "Go ahead," he answered.

"Thanks, love." Cordelia pecked Ronan on the cheek.

Once the car stopped at Bean & Brew, Cordelia hopped out.

Ronan spotted Brenda from the car window.

"What brings you here? And looking so glamorous?" Brenda asked upon seeing Cordelia.

"My brother's engagement party was today, and it was nearby." Cordelia replied.

"Your brother's engaged? Did Jamie attend?" Brenda asked while sipping her coffee.

Cordelia nodded.

"So, him and Ronan..." Brenda prodded.

"Nothing special happened. After all, an engagement is a big deal," Cordelia answered.

"Your brother is engaged to Kendra, right? I heard about it at work." Brenda continued.

"Yes," Cordelia confirmed.

"Originally, Kendra knew Thomas. She had a thing for Jamie, but after the whole Jamie-Manda fiasco,

she gave up on him. To be honest, you broke Jamie's heart. When you went to Proxima Ventures on

behalf of Ronan, Jamie realized that your views and values were worlds apart from him. He was

devastated and decided to go abroad," Brenda took a sip of her coffee. "From now on, I'll be managing

PrimeNumbers Accounting, he'll just get a cut."

"Is that so?" Cordelia thought. So Jamie's decision to go abroad was triggered by her trip to Proxima

Ventures. Manda also gave Cordelia grief over this.

It was Ronan's idea for Cordelia to retrieve the materials.

Ronan, always the strategic thinker, might have anticipated this all along. He had a knack for reading

people’s minds. And Jamie was left dispirited because of it.

Cordelia marvelled once again at Ronan's foresight.

"Does Jamie often talk to you?" Cordelia inquired.

"Yes, I'm like his big sister. So, how about it, Cordelia? Fancy joining me at PrimeNumbers Accounting?

I'll cut you in." Brenda proposed excitedly.

This was why Brenda wanted to see Cordelia. She was very satisfied with Cordelia's work.

"That doesn't sound right, Milana is pretty awesome too. She’s currently guiding me." Cordelia

responded.

"Just say it straight. It's your husband's company, and you want to give it your all." Brenda said, clearly

disappointed. "I knew I'd get this response from you. I wish we could be colleagues, but there's always

something in the way."

Cordelia said with a smile, "What's your plan regarding Manda?"

Brenda looked up, her eyes gleaming with revenge. "I can't just fire her. I'll give her a separate office,

no tasks, and let the others ostracize her. Just wait and see." Brenda was hell-bent on payback.

"Just make sure you don't go overboard," Cordelia cautioned. "If she's so into Jamie, why didn't she

follow him abroad?"

"On what grounds?" Brenda retorted.

Cordelia thought, that was true. She was not Jamie's girlfriend, she couldn't live with him, and Jamie

didn't promise her a job either.
