The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 400

Chapter 400

“Miss Tabitha? I got your number from my brother. He told me about your heart condition, and that

having a child could be life-threatening. You don’t have to risk your life for me, I’m backing out! Go

ahead and have his child.” It was Cordelia’s voice.

“Are you Mrs. Evans? I don’t want to be a home wrecker, that’s not ethical.” Tabitha feigned reluctance.

She knew, the more she tried to shrug it off, the more guilty Cordelia would feel.

“We’ve been divorced for a while now.” And with that, Cordelia hung up.

“Who was that?” Alana asked Tabitha.

“Oh, that was Cordelia. She wants me to have Ronan’s child,” Tabitha said. “I used Adrian this time,

and made him relay the news of my pregnancy to Cordelia. She would definitely believe this.”

Alana burst into laughter, a triumphant sound that seemed to echo through the walls. “She believed it;

she finally believed it. She’s heartbroken, crushed! I did it!”

By the time Cordelia got home, it was already eight. She carried a pile of new clothes. In fact, she was

still somewhat skeptical about Tabitha’s pregnancy. But as the saying goes, where there’s smoke,

there’s fire. And with Adrian behaving as if he wanted to kill Ronan, she was inclined to believe it.

Cordelia felt exhausted. She didn’t want to dwell on it anymore; she wanted to move on.

When she got home, Olen and Amanda were sitting on the couch. Cordelia couldn’t help but think of

Ronan’s confession at the police station whenever she saw Olen’s calm demeanor.

Right now, her mother had already been cremated, while Olen was sitting here comfortably.

When she entered the bedroom, Ronan was already there waiting for her. “What took you so long?” He

asked.

“You burned all my clothes, so I had to go and buy new ones,” Cordelia said casually. Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronan noticed something off about her tone and her expression. “What’s wrong?” He asked.

“Nothing, just feeling a bit upset about leaving our child behind,” she said.

“Only the child?”

Cordelia thought for a moment. “And you.”

“I bought you some things. Take them with you. Your rented apartment looks like a dump,” Ronan said,

pointing to a bunch of stuff on the table – an electric toothbrush, facial cleanser, clothes, even tampons.

“Okay,” Cordelia said.

“If there’s anything, call me. We need to communicate.”

“Okay.”

“I’ll tell you if I think of anything else.”

“Okay.”

Ronan kept on nagging like an old man, while Cordelia just humored him.

“When you get to the States, rent a better place. This one’s too small for the amount of money I gave

you,” Ronan hinted that he wasn’t comfortable in Cordelia’s rented apartment.

“Okay, I will.”

Getting the answer he wanted, Ronan didn’t say anything else. That night, he had rough sex with

Cordelia, who bore it silently.

Despite the sleepless night, Cordelia woke up early the next day, packed her bags, and said goodbye

to Callum. Cordelia was devastated to leave him, but she didn’t show any signs of it.

No one knew what she was thinking.

Ronan didn’t go to the airport to see Cordelia off. He sent Tristi instead. He didn’t want the tearful

goodbye scene.

Tristi had heard about Alana’s plot against Cordelia. “Mrs. Evans, I can’t believe Alana is such a

person. I’ve lost all respect for her. I won’t be her fan anymore!” Tristi said. “When are you coming back

from the States?”

“Well, depending on the situation, maybe twice a month,” Cordelia said, staring out the window with a

blank expression.

Tristi thought it was normal for Cordelia not to be in a good mood, considering she was leaving the

country, and didn’t think much of it.

After Cordelia went through customs and flew to the States without looking back, Tristi reported back to

Ronan. “Mr. Evans, Mrs. Evans has gone through customs,” she said.

“Did she say anything?” Ronan asked, sounding tired.

“Uh, nothing. She just went into customs without looking back.”

Ronan was silent for a moment, then grunted in response.
