The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 468

Chapter 468

After catching her breath, Cordelia glanced at her phone. It was a message from Petra: [Cordelia, got a

moment? I need to talk to you about something.]

[Sure, I'm home.]

[I'll be there in 15 minutes.]

[Okay.]

Cordelia tidied up her place a bit before Petra arrived.

"Cordelia, have you had company?" Petra asked, sniffing the air.

"No, why?" Cordelia was a bit flustered, wondering if she'd given anything away.

"There's a smell of perfume. You don't usually wear perfume."

"Well, it was a sample I got at the mall. I just sprayed it around the room," Cordelia explained, thinking

about Alana in her room, whom she hadn't noticed any scent from.

Luckily, Petra didn't dwell on it. She said to Cordelia, "Could you ask Ronan if I could take care of that Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

matter?"

"What?" Cordelia was confused.

"I mean the custody issue. I'm divorced and I don't plan on remarrying, but I do wish I had a child

around. So, I want to adopt Jayson. Can you ask Ronan if it's okay?"

Petra asked eagerly.

Cordelia thought: Jayson? Tabitha's son? She hadn't heard about this.

"I didn't know about it. He didn't tell me," Cordelia admitted.

"I heard it from our classmates. He asked a childless couple from our class if they wanted to adopt, but

they declined because his mom is a criminal. This news is all over Millstone, don’t you know?" Petra

asked Cordelia.

"Well, I’ve heard a bit about it."

"Can you ask him for me?" Petra asked Cordelia, full of excitement.

"Sure."

But Cordelia suddenly realized she didn't have Ronan's Messenger. This was awkward.

With Petra watching her, she had no choice but to text Ronan: [Petra heard about Jayson from our

classmates. She told me she wants to adopt him. Can you ask him if it's okay?]

Surprisingly, Ronan replied instantly: [I'll talk to her in person.]

Looking at the instant response, Cordelia felt a bit uneasy. So, all those messages she had sent him

before, he had seen them but didn't bother to reply. But this time, the matter of the child was important,

so he did.

"What did he say?" Petra, hearing the notification, asked Cordelia.

"He said he'll talk to you in person."

"Really? That's great. Thank you, Cordelia." Petra's face lit up, clearly excited about the upcoming

conversation.

"You're welcome," Cordelia replied.

Petra left.

......

For the next few days, Cordelia didn't see Petra. She attended classes as usual, finished classes,

wrote papers, worked on projects – following a routine without much variation.

As for whether Petra managed to adopt the kid, and how her "talk" with Ronan went, she didn't bother

to ask.

Once, her student Sally asked her, "Ms. Haselwood, do you have someone that you like? I heard you

two that night. No wonder you're not interested in Harold."

"What did you hear?" Cordelia, startled, wondered if Sally had heard that kiss.

"Well, not exactly heard, but I could feel the vibe," Sally said dreamily.

"Stop talking nonsense," Cordelia tried to dismiss it.

"Ms. Haselwood, you're a grown woman. There is no need to get so flustered," Sally said nonchalantly.

That night, Ronan had been so pent up. There must have been some noise, right? That kind of guy,

with his heady hormones, he could be reckless.
