“You heard that too?” Alfredo asked, knowing that she must have heard when he said he was almost at the verge of giving Carlos family away.
He was filled with guilt over the fact that he wanted to give Carlos family away to save Raven and her father.
“I also heard that you were about to hand us over to Ramos if it wasn’t for her.” she said.
“I’m really sorry…. I didn’t know what to do at that time… and so my emotions… took the better of me.” Alfredo said.
“I know, that it wasn’t easy. I guess she is the woman you love. And I know that love makes us do carzy things and risk anything to save those we love.
You deciding to leave her there with Ramos, must have been the most difficult decision that you had to make. So I am not angry at you.” she said.
“Raven is braver than I am. She never allows Ramos words intimidate her. I guess that’s why he has been keeping her alive all this while.” Alfredo said.
Carlos’s wife nodded. “I can see why,” she said. “She’s a strong woman. She’ll be a great asset to you. I know you’ll need someone who will be by your side in the future, and she seems like a great person for that role. Do you love her?”
Alfredo was caught off guard by the question, and he hesitated for a moment. He wasn’t sure how to answer, or if he even should. But he knew that Carlos’s wife deserved an honest answer.

Carlos’s wife smiled, a bittersweet expression on her face. “That’s wonderful,” she said. “You deserve to be happy. And she deserves to be happy, too. She’s been through so much. But it’s clear that you make her happy. I’m glad that you’ve found someone who can help you get through the hard times.”
Alfredo felt a sense of relief wash over him. He was glad that Carlos’s wife understood his feelings, and that she didn’t blame him for anything. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
Mrs. Carlos, what is it that you have that Ramos wants so desperately that he could kill your husband for? because whatever it is must be worth risking everything to get it.” Alfredo said.
“I don’t know…. Carlos always kept his work a secret from us as his family. Of course I knew that he was involved in a lot of shitty things but I never expected that he was involved with someone like Ramos Escobar.” she said.
“You knew who Ramos his from the start?” Alfredo asked.
“Yes, I knew Ramos Escobar, long before he became more ruthless and wicked.” she revealed.
“You see my father Antonio use to be the drug Lord of this country before he passed away. And I knew Ramos because he use to work for my father long ago and he did all the dirty work for my father.
I guessed that explains why he is ruthless and heartless. My father wasn’t the best father in the world and my mother hated his guts so much that she wanted to take us with her and leave him, but who could escape my father.
The only way to escape from my father is death. When he knew that my mother wanted to take us away from him, he had his men kill my mother and staged it as an accident.
I was sixteen at that time and I knew that it wasn’t an accident, because I over heard one of my father’s men discussing about it in the hall way.
I was scared of what my father was going to do to me and my siblings if we tried to escape so we stayed until one day my father and his men went for an operation and never returned.
So I got some money and took my siblings and we changed our names and other information and left the country.” she said.
“So how did you end up here? And why did you marry Carlos when you knew he was involved in something similar like what your father was doing before he died?” Alfredo asked.
“Carlos and I met in Mexico and we fell in love and he was different. He cared about his men and so when we got married and had our daughter, I saw how much he took very good care of us and made sure nothing happened to us…
So I guessed he was different, but after he informed me that we had to leave Mexico and come here, I knew that something must have happened but he didn’t say and so just left me in the dark.” she revealed.
“So you guys moved here and continued his business?” Alfredo asked.
“Yes, we did and then all this happened. And now, he is dead as well.
I don’t want my children to be exposed to this kind of life anymore. I want to take them away from all of this and into a better life where they won’t remember all that has happened to them.” she said.
“But, the thing is that, whatever your husband took from Ramos must be pretty important that he is looking everywhere for you and your kids.
If he gets his hands on it, then it’s game over for us. So I need you to trust me and tell me so I will know what Ramos wants and why he was so willing to make a deal to get it, because we all know that Ramos doesn’t keep his promises and makes no deal with anyone.

“I will tell you, but you have to promise me that you will not give it to him no matter what.” she said.
