The Mafia’s Woman

Alice drove some kilometers away from the club then parked the car and got down. She lean in the car and bought out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, she opened it and took a stick out, she reached for her lighter and when she find it she lit the cigarette and place the light back… She puffs out smoke from the cigar.

She remained in that same position till she had to smoke six cigarette sticks. She opened the car door and pulled out her gun, she reload it… Takes her time.

Alice placed the gun back into the car, she got in and ignited the car engine, and slowly hit the road once again.

Elsa was awoken by a noise outside her room, she stood up from her bed alert, trembling that the men who were after her before were in her apartment.

She tried to reach for her phone to maybe call Radon or Alice. these are just the two people she knows can protect her, but then she realized that she had left her phone alongside her bag in the sitting room after she was done talking with Alice.

Slowly, Elsa walked out of her room… running her eyes around the room for any unsudden movement. Then she saw a figure of someone laying on the floor gasping for air.

“Marina!” she shouted and rushed over to her.. she checked her temperature, she was still breathing but she look like someone who was about to die anything soon.

she reached out for the emergency telephone and immediately the hospital number, giving out her apartment details, Elsa waited for the ambulance to come while trying to see if there was anything she can do till the ambulance appear.

she tried calling Alice but her line wasn’t going through… Elsa lay next to the almost lifeless body of Marina and cried.

Alice parked her car in front of a building and got down, putting her hand inside her pockets, Alice walked to the front door of the apartment and knocked then waited…

Seconds later, the door opened and Harden appeared on the door. The expression on his face says he’s surprised to see Alice in front of his door at that time of the morning … it’s 2:34 in the morning.

“Alice? what the fuck are you here for? ” Harden said.

Alice pushed him behind and walked into the apartment, Harden stared at her then back outside, trying to check if she came with someone. He closed back the did or and joined her inside.

“How long has it been? six years? or four?” Harden asked and walked out to the counter to get a bottle of champagne from his fridge.

“Four years. I ain’t here to talk shits” Alice said, taking the glass of champagne from him and taking it all down at once.. she handed him her glass, requesting more.

“Damn. How much smoke you had? you smell like shit” Harden said sitting down after pouring her another glass.

“Just shut the fuck up. Where’s Radon?” Alice sharply asked.

“This isn’t his apartment..” Harden rolls his eyes.

“We’ve to do something about Malcolm”

Harden seems to the taken back by the outburst of Alice.

“You left Mafia and disappeared, then come back now with the outburst to attack Malcolm? what the fuck is wrong with you bitch?”

“You shut up and watch your tongue, Harden! you’re one hell of a badass and I fuvkin hit you”

“Not as much as I hate you ”

They both went silent for a while, glaring AY each other. Until Alice broke the silence.

“Malcolm’s Men Shot in the car some hours ago”

“Malcolm doesn’t give a damn about you after he killed Joe. Why? You attacked him first, tough ya?”

“I wish I could kill you with my hands… What the fuck is you!! Malcolm is trying to kill my sister… Radon’s girlfriend!”

“The fuck!?”

Elsa sat at the reception and waited for the doctor to get out of Marina’s room, maybe with a piece of news about what was wrong with her.

She already called their parents to inform them that she was in the hospital with Marina. She had tried a couple of times to reach Radon and Alice but their line wasn’t even connecting.

Elsa was almost dozing off when she felt a tap on her shoulder, She opened her eyes and it was the doctor.

“Hey! How’s she???” She asked standing up.

“She’s fine, Please join me in my office for some minutes”

Elsa nodded and followed the doctor to his office. After sitting down, the doctor gave her a file that contains a scan but she didn’t understand it so she urged the doctor to explain to her what the slip says.

“Your sister, Marina, almost had a miscarriage though to the drug she took which didn’t react well to her system. But I’m happy to announce that she’s fine and her baby is fine too” The doctor said and Elsa stared at him for some seconds and then laughed.

“Is this a joke or something?” She smiled.

“What do you mean? There’s nothing like a joke in the hospital Miss Elsa”

Elsa’s smile fade away and she stared open her mouth then swallowed after a couple of seconds, trying to believe what the doctor said.

“How many days? weeks or whatever. how long is the pregnancy?”

“One month and two weeks”

“Oh, holy Molly! like what the fuck? she’s a damn college student… and pregnant?”

“A quick notice Miss Elsa, with the scan we had on her… Her womb is almost damaged as she had already had many abortions and I’m afraid she won’t survive if she tries getting rid of the baby. Either she loses her life in the process or her womb will be completely damaged. If you’ll not mind, I’ll have to attention to other patients ” The doctor completed and stood up walking away.

Elsa stood up also after the reality hit her and walks out of the doctor’s office also. She still finds it hard to believe Marina is pregnant and had also had many abortions.

Like, the mummy’s sweetheart? the saint who doesn’t know a sin?

The drive home was a quiet one as neither Elsa nor Marina talked to each other, as they just keep glazing at each other. When the cab dropped them off at their apartment, Elsa made the payment while Marina just walked in. it was already 9 am.

Radon’s phone wasn’t connecting which made Elsa worried as she was still putting up also to the news of Marina’s pregnancy.

Once they were in, Marina fell on the couch and facepalmed herself, all stressed out.

“What the fuck was that about Marina?” Elsa asked when she joined her in the sitting room.

“What do you mean?” Marina rolled her eyes.

“You pathetic whore! don’t fucking try to act like you don’t know what I’m saying. bitch who’s the father?” Elsa said, trying not to let out all the anger in her.

“Don’t yell at me Slut! it’s none of your fucking business so stay out! you’re no saint!”

“Oh really? I just saved your damn ass girl! You could have been lying there in the Hospital, lifeless if I hadn’t picked up your ass from the floor, and you have the nerve to call me a slut?!”

“Just fuck off” Marina yelled and stood up, walking into her room. Elsa stood watching her as she shuts the door of her room behind, loud enough for Elsa to hear.

Elsa scoffed, feeling surprised that Marina feel no remorse over her action and what was going to happen next. She stood up from the couch and walked to Marina’s room, knocking at her door.

“Go away, Elsa!”

“You better don’t do any shit with that baby! you get your ass out of there and go find the father! You heard the doctor… you can’t fucking terminate it! ” Elsa yelled but all she could hear is Marina’s breathing.

“You Inform the father! and then think of your future and how to break this to daddy and your mummy. I’m going to Radon’s, I’ll see you when I’m back ”

Still, Marina didn’t say a word to Elsa and so Elsa just took her bag from the sitting room and walked out. It was already 11 am and she’d missed her class for the day.

After Marina was sure Elsa had left the house, she picked up her phone to call Sean, her best friend to inform her of her misfortune and maybe see if she can help her out.

“Fuckin abort it! that’s what you’ve been doing. do you need to even call me?” Sean yelled over the phone so Marina could hear her she was at a party, enjoying her life to the full.

“That’s the problem here Sean. The doctor said I can’t fucking terminate me! My womb is already weak”

“What the fuck? Whatcha gonna do?” Sean asked over the phone.

“I don’t know Sean. I don’t know”

“Don’t panic Marina, I’m sure the father is rich so it won’t be hard for him to take responsibility, Who’s the father? ”

“Seriously Sean… I don’t know who the father is”

“You know Sean, there are many guys I’ve slept went without protection. There’s just no one I can pin this on,”

“You Slut! Ain’t you so pathetic?” Sean laughed over the phone.

“What is that?”

“How can you just sleep with every random thing you see? you gonna give birth to a kid and them em you don’t know the father? you’re so pathetic. it’s your cross, Marina, why don’t you carry it and stay the fuck out of my phone. our friendship is over Mar! I can’t befriend a whore who can’t control what goes underneath her!”

When the call disconnected, Marina wants the belief that it’s a joke, that Sean didn’t just leave her and broke their friendships because of her misfortune.

When reality hit her, she knows she has to think of how to face her parents and how to find her baby… a father.
