Chapter 73
The unexpected visitor turned out to be none other than Freya’s father, Leo Stone.
“Elijah didn’t harm Zane Stone. Think about it, have you offended anyone? Someone might be retaliating against your son.”
“Not Elijah?” Leo Stone clearly doubted the idea. “He’s deceiving you. If it’s not him, then who else could it be? I haven’t offended anyone. The only one who could retaliate against Zane Stone is Elijah. It can’t be anyone else.”
Freya interjected, her skepticism evident, “Do you have any evidence?”
“It’s not just a coincidence that Elijah’s assistant got hit and is still in the hospital, and there’s another woman…” Leo Stone started to explain.
“Enough, Dad. You should investigate and find out the truth,” Freya interrupted, not wanting to entertain more of Leo Stone’s words, especially when Liora Valentine was brought into the conversation.
“Elijah didn’t cause you trouble because of this, did he?” Leo Stone finally remembered to ask about his daughter’s well-being.
Freya smirked coldly, “Surprisingly, you still remember me.”
The sarcasm in her tone was unmistakable, and Leo Stone couldn’t ignore it.
“I’m just busy with Zane’s matter, too occupied to pay attention to your well-being…” Leo Stone tried to explain, but Freya saw his concern as hypocritical.
“I have other things to attend to; I’m leaving,” Freya interrupted before Leo Stone could finish.
Leo Stone wanted to say more, but he sighed lightly and left, a hint of loneliness trailing behind him.
Sitting in the car, Freya looked out the window, feeling conflicted. In the end, she chose not to contact Elijah to inquire about this matter. Elijah had mentioned that his secretary would investigate, and if there were any results, he would inform her. She continued to attend the lecture.
As the lecture delved into topics related to her, she diligently took notes. The lecture lasted for over two hours, and she had been there for the entire duration. After it ended, as she walked out, she felt a bit thirsty. Spotting a nearby café, she crossed the street to get there. Ordering a refreshing glass of juice, she perused through the notes she had made.
Suddenly, she felt a presence at her table.
Looking up, she saw Izzy Green.
Freya immediately became alert.
“So it’s really you. I thought I was seeing things. It seems we’re destined to meet,” Izzy Green, without treating herself as an outsider, pulled out a chair and sat directly across from Freya. Getting straight to the point, she inquired, “Tell me, what’s your relationship with Elijah?”
Freya, unimpressed by Izzy Green’s demeanor, responded, “Why should I tell you? What’s our relationship? It’s none of your business. Do you have the authority to interfere?”
Izzy Green was stifled, her face contorted in displeasure. “Don’t be too proud. You’re just a dance teacher with no notable background. Do you really think Elijah will marry you? You better not dream.”
Freya regarded her with disbelief. How naïve could this woman be?
In her mind, was she just another woman infatuated with Elijah’s appearance?
“Elijah can’t marry me, so he can marry you?” Freya immediately retorted.
Izzy Green, feeling smug, asserted, “I’m definitely more suitable than you. My family background makes us a perfect match. But you are not worthy.”
Freya nodded seriously, “Oh.”
Izzy frowned, “What’s your attitude?”
Freya shot back, “What attitude do you want me to have?”
Izzy found herself momentarily speechless. At that moment, the server brought the juice to the table. Freya took a sip immediately, eager to leave as soon as possible. After finishing the drink, she got up.
Izzy Green, however, blocked her way.
“Leave Elijah.”
Freya found the demand ridiculous.
“Do you and Elijah have a close relationship now? Are you sure that you can marry him immediately?” Freya mocked.
“I hope you can clarify something. The banquet you attended, which was actually arranged by my dad to introduce me to Elijah, got disrupted because he brought you. Otherwise, my dad would have introduced me to him already. It’s all because of you, ruining our plans.”This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Freya’s hand under the table involuntarily clenched.
Izzy Green had a formidable background.
What surprised her even more was that the banquet turned out to be a unilateral blind date?
If Elijah hadn’t taken her, would Jasper Green have introduced his daughter to Elijah?
Izzy Green hated her because she disrupted a blind date?
Elijah’s temper was so bad, and she couldn’t understand why these women were attracted to him. They kept coming one after another.
“I really want to know how you fell for Elijah,” Freya asked.
“He looks good, and he matches well with me,” Izzy Green said confidently. “We’re a perfect match, given our family backgrounds.”
Indeed, the reasons were good looks and wealth. A man with all the qualities of a tall, rich, and handsome person naturally attracted women.
“So, are you going to leave Elijah?” Izzy asked.
Freya replied, “If he’s willing to leave me, I’ll leave him immediately.”
“… Are you saying that Elijah is clinging to you?” Izzy Green asked. Without waiting for Freya to answer, she sneered, “You think you’re worthy?”
Freya thought about it and realized that she might not be suitable.
“I hope you can capture his heart soon.” Freya said as she stood up. Deliberately tarnishing Elijah’s reputation, she added, “By the way, let me tell you a secret. Elijah has some peculiar habits. He’s quite perverted, likes to hit women, and his personal life is chaotic. Also, he has hidden illnesses, especially in that aspect, he’s not capable. Despite his appearance in public, he’s not the person he seems to be behind closed doors.”
“You’re talking nonsense.” Izzy Green didn’t believe it. “I’ve never heard of it.”
“He maintains his aloof appearance in public. How could he casually reveal his true self?” Freya smiled, “I wish you a quick journey onto his treacherous ship.”
With that, Freya smoothly left the café.
In Izzy Green’s mind, a seed of doubt had been planted. If Elijah was normal, why hadn’t he married or publicly dated anyone yet? Could there be some truth in what Freya said? Elijah might be handsome, but she didn’t want to marry someone with hidden issues. She still hoped for a happy life.
…
Freya returned to the villa. She saw Elijah’s car parked at the entrance.
Had he already come back?
She checked the time.
Wasn’t it a bit early today?
She walked inside.
Not finding anyone in the living room, she went upstairs and knocked on Elijah’s door. There was no response from inside.
Just as she turned to leave, the door opened. She turned around and saw that it wasn’t Elijah. Instead, it was…
