Chapter 74
“How, how come it’s you?” Freya was taken aback.
The secretary’s face remained composed as she replied, “I came to bring something for Mr Silverton. I need to hurry back to the office, so I’ll leave now.”
After saying this, the secretary walked out, casting a seemingly casual glance at Freya before swiftly descending the stairs.
Freya frowned. Though she sensed something was off, she didn’t dwell on it too much. After all, the secretary belonged to Elijah, and perhaps entering his office was as casual as being at home.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Was entering Elijah’s room also something she could easily understand?
“Madam.” Linda’s voice came from downstairs.
Freya went downstairs.
“You really came back.” Linda smiled.
Freya responded, “Yes, I’m back.”
Seated on the sofa, she casually asked, “Linda, does the secretary often come to the villa?”
“No, very rarely, almost never. It’s usually Xander accompanying Mr Silverton.” Linda said.
Freya nodded.
“Why are you suddenly asking this?” Linda teased with a hint of ambiguity. “Are you jealous, Madam? Did you get jealous because she’s a woman?”
Freya replied with a helpless smile, “Linda.”
Linda chuckled, “Alright, I won’t tease you anymore.”
Feeling a bit hungry, Freya went to the refrigerator to find something to eat. She spent her free time in the living room watching TV.
Elijah, who promised to come back a bit earlier, did not keep his word. The two of them had only seen each other in the next morning.
“When did you come back yesterday?” asked Freya.
“I got something to deal with so I was home late.” Elijah explained.
As they sat at the dining table, it seemed both had something to say but didn’t know how to start.
“You…”
“I…”
They spoke simultaneously.
“You go first.” Elijah said.
“Have you found out who attacked Zane Stone? My dad has been urging me again after he was not able to reach you.”
She didn’t want Leo Stone to come looking for her again because of this matter.
“My secretary hasn’t given me any updates yet,” Elijah replied.
Freya nodded, expressing her understanding. Without clear information, there wasn’t much they could do.
“By the way, what did you want to say?” Freya scooped some porridge into her mouth as she asked.
Elijah, placing his hands on the table, slightly tightened the napkin, showing a bit of nervousness, a rare sight on him. Last night, he had returned late because he had also dealt with today’s matters, and he hoped to have some time today. He had looked online for tips on pursuing a girl. It said to be bold, attentive, and take the initiative. Considering the somewhat improved relationship between him and Freya, if he wanted to further develop it, he needed to put in some effort.
“Um, if you have time, would you like to watch a movie together?” he stammered.
Unfortunately, he had no experience in pursuing women. He didn’t know how to do it properly.
Freya, with a mouthful of porridge, almost spat it out!
She looked at Elijah in disbelief. Was this really coming from him?
Elijah tried to maintain composure. “What are you staring at me for?”
Was this woman mocking him?
His eyebrows slightly furrowed, and his ears turned red.
Freya shook her head. “Are you joking?”
“Why would I be joking?” Elijah’s expression was somewhat cold.
Freya chuckled.
He wanted to tear her face apart. Was his behavior that funny?
If Freya could hear his thoughts, she would surely answer, “Yes, it’s really funny. You actually invited me to watch a movie.”
Freya took a look at him, realizing he wasn’t experienced in this. She said, “Not many people watch movies in the morning, the evening show is livelier.”
Elijah, “…”
This was something he hadn’t researched, and he didn’t mention it had to be in the evening.
“Let’s go in the evening.” Freya suggested.
Elijah, feeling a bit haughty, stood up. “As you wish.”
After saying that, he left the restaurant.
This woman was truly annoying. He invited her, and she could’ve just agreed, right? Why bother choosing the time?
Freya couldn’t help but find Elijah in this state surprisingly cute.
Later, Freya went to work, and during her break, she searched for the latest movies. She chose a cerebral detective genre film, her current favorite.
She rushed back home after work.
Elijah was at home. Freya didn’t know if he had gone out during the day. Anyway, he was at home when she left in the morning and when she came back in the evening.
She took the initiative, saying, “Shall we go watch a movie?”
Elijah’s dark face finally showed a slight relaxation due to her words, but it still didn’t look too pleasant because he had waited for her for quite a while.
“Mm.” Elijah grabbed the car keys and opened the door.
Freya got in the car, buckling her seatbelt. She asked, “What type of movies do you like? I’ll buy the tickets online.”
Elijah acted as if he knew everything, “Just choose the one you like. We can also buy tickets at the venue, right?”
“Yeah, but usually, buying tickets online in advance is cheaper. Some cinemas also have promotions where they give away free cola and fries. It’s more cost-effective.” Freya explained.
“Are these things expensive?” Elijah asked.
Freya, “…”
Alright! Elijah’s consumption didn’t need to consider the issue of price.
Who asked him to be rich?
They only bought tickets when they arrived because a recent romance film had been released, and there were many young couples in the cinema.
The screening times were numerous.
“Which movie would you like to watch?” the cashier asked.
Elijah said, “Anything currently showing.”
So, they ended up with two tickets for the latest romantic film. Freya only discovered which romantic film it was when they found their seats. Front, back, left, and right, all around them were couples hugging, kissing, and cuddling. Freya didn’t dare to even glance around. She could only admire silently in her heart how good it was to be young. Actually, she was quite young too. Life had just matured her into a thirty-year-old.
The couple next to her, the girl rested on the guy’s shoulder, watching the movie while feeding popcorn to her boyfriend. Besides the sound of the movie, there were also the sounds of crunching.
Freya glanced at them but quickly averted her gaze. Unexpectedly, she found Elijah looking at her.
She calmly shifted her gaze to the big screen. Elijah leaned down to her ear. In the dim cinema, his actions were extremely tender. He whispered, “Do you also want to feed me?”
Freya, “…”
She almost blurted out something shameless. Public places made her restrain herself. She pretended not to have heard and continued watching the movie. Elijah looked at her face, which was intermittently lit up by the movie screen, and his lips curled up slightly. He retracted his body but extended his hand toward hers, gripping it.
His palm was warm, firm and powerful. The moment he held her hand, Freya’s whole body tensed up. Her heart rate accelerated. She couldn’t handle such an intimate action, like that of a couple. She unconsciously struggled.
“Don’t move, watch the movie.” Elijah said but he didn’t look away.
Freya turned her head and happened to see the light falling on his face, her heart pounding.
