Chapter 930 Forever Together
Orion laughed, a hint of self-deprecation in his laughter.
He picked up his glass and took a sip, his voice soft and slow, “Don’t you want to give Star a complete family?”
Luna replied, “I’m sorry for her.”
It was a refusal.
She knew in her heart that she and Orion were no longer possible.
In any aspect.
She had experienced too much.
And she couldn’t accept being involved with Orion.
She turned the glass on the table, “I really loved Tyler.”
Orion’s face turned visibly pale for a moment.
He knew that Luna must have had feelings for Tyler when they were together.
Tyler was indeed a man worth spending a lifetime with.
He had blessed them before.
But wasn’t Tyler already dead now?
“Everyone has their fate, life and death are predetermined, it has nothing to do with you,” Orion said.
Luna looked up at him, “Is that so?”
Orion answered confidently, “Yes.”
Luna knew he was consoling himself.
She drank her drink, picked up the bottle, and poured herself another.
She found that drinking helped her speak more openly.
Words that were hard to say came out more easily after a few drinks.
She smiled, “I… I’m filthy.”
Orion stared at her, his eyes seemingly calm but filled with deep emotions.
He always felt it was his fault.
He hadn’t taken care of her well.
He hadn’t given her confidence.
If he had been more determined, more capable, more resistant to family pressure.
Luna wouldn’t have left him.
She wouldn’t have gone so far alone, wouldn’t have met Tyler, wouldn’t have experienced marriage, loss, and pain…
Orion blamed himself for all of Luna’s misfortunes.
He tugged at the corner of his lips, “It’s my fault.”
“No,” Luna said, “It’s not your fault, it’s fate.”
The two locked eyes.
Silent, staring at each other for a long time.
Neither said a word.
“Do you want to live alone forever?” Orion broke the silence.
Luna said, “I don’t want to bring misfortune to anyone.”
Orion asked, “Do you think you will bring misfortune to someone?”
Luna lowered her eyes, looking at the glass on the table. “Yes, if Tyler hadn’t met me, he would have married a good girl and lived a peaceful life. But he met me, lost his life, didn’t even leave behind an heir. If I could, find another man, get married, have children, stepping on his bones, how sad his life would be.”
Orion asked her, “And am I not sad?”
Luna took a deep breath and said, “I want to be with Star forever, but if you meet a woman you love, want to start a family, I will leave.”
Orion asked, “Aren’t you afraid that the woman I find won’t be good for Star? Step-mothers have never really loved their children, aren’t you afraid Star will suffer?”
“I believe in you,” Luna raised her gaze, “I believe you will choose the right person, take care of Star and not let her suffer.”
Orion drank from his glass and poured himself another. Mockingly, he said, “You believe in me? I don’t even believe in myself. Do you know me better than I know myself?”
Luna tightly pursed her lips.
Orion drank again.
He continued to pour.
Luna just watched, not stopping him.
Some things could only be said when drunk.
Some things were easier to face when not completely sober.
It was better this way.
Words said when drunk weren’t as embarrassing.
She took a sip too.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
The alcohol burned down her throat.
“Finish it,” Orion said.
Luna looked at him.
His eyes were a bit red.
Though he seemed tipsy, he wasn’t drunk.
She picked up the glass and finished the drink.
She frowned.
Orion poured her another one.
He raised his glass, “Shall we have a drink?”
Luna nodded and drank with him.
Orion said, “Tell me honestly, do you still have any feelings for me?”
Luna’s expression briefly changed, but quickly returned to calm, she replied firmly, “No.”
Orion felt like he had been stabbed in the heart.
It truly hurt.
“Is that so…” The words ‘you’re so heartless’ nearly left Orion’s mouth.
But he held back.
“I wanted to have a heart-to-heart with you, but you’re not honest. It’s pointless.” He got up, seeming drunk, his body swaying, “I’m going to sleep.”
He walked unsteadily to the room.
He accidentally tripped over the table corner, nearly falling.
Luna had thought to help, but she quickly realized that it would only make their relationship more awkward.
She held back.
Without turning back, Orion said, “If you change your mind, I’ll be ready to accept you at any time.”
Luna didn’t respond, not willing to give any acknowledgment.
Orion felt a little lost.
He had expected her answer.
But it still hurt.
He went into the room and closed the door.
He sat against it.
His hands covered his face buried in his arms.
…
In the morning, Luna held Star outside.
Orion got up and came to the living room. He saw the prepared breakfast on the table, as well as hangover soup.
He walked to the table, looking around but not seeing Luna.
Had she heartlessly left?
He rushed to Star’s room, but Star wasn’t there either.
He became even more anxious.
Could she have taken Star with her?
Orion nearly ran outside in a panic.
He saw Luna holding Star, playing with her toys.
He finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He leaned against the doorframe.
Luna looked over, “Have you eaten? Breakfast is on the table.”
“I saw,” he replied.
Luna seemed to realize his misunderstanding and reassured him, “Star is your child. I gave her to you; I wouldn’t selfishly take her away. You can rest assured.”
She knew Orion truly loved Star too.
Orion said, “I’m not going to the office today.”
With a nod, he turned back into the house.
Luna hesitated.
She held Star’s hand tighter.
She didn’t know what Orion was planning.
Star squirmed in her arms.
Luna looked down, staring at her daughter in her arms.
For her daughter, she had to overcome the embarrassment.
If she left, she would miss Star dearly.
She longed to be with her daughter.
