Chapter 345
To Karen, it seemed that what Xavier gave her was just a piece of paper. Was he a madman?
When Yvette got back, Karen tugged at her and said, "Your husband's
quite good looking, but he's a bit weird. I made smoked bacon, so I brought some over, and he gave me a piece of paper instead. He even asked me to fill some numbers in." She tried to express it as indirectly as possible, without saying that Xavier was a lunatic.
Yvette knew that Karen had misunderstood, but she didn't want to correct her. She had no choice but to admit that Xavier had an odd temper indeed.
"Thanks for the smoked bacon. Next time, don't look for him when he's the only one at home. You can come to me when I'm back."
"Alright." After seeing Yvette off, Karen found herself feeling sorry for her.
Why had a nice woman like Yvette married a blind, insane man? Hadn't Yvette been born with a silver spoon in her mouth and married a wealthy man? Yvette had just returned after visiting Noah at the hospital. She had also done a prenatal checkup; everything was fine with the baby.
Heading into the kitchen, she saw that Xavier was busy. He almost burned his hands numerous times.
Approaching him, Yvette asked, "What are you doing?"
Unfazed, he answered, "Cooking." He was sprinkling sugar, thinking that it was salt.
"That's sugar, not salt..."
Xavier paused. "Wasn't the salt here before?"
"When we were making dinner last night, we moved things around." Yvette moved closer toward him. "I'll handle it."
She didn't want to bully a blind person. Yet, Xavier didn't hand things over to her but continued cooking.
"I'll be the one cooking from now on.NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Recalling Claude's actions in the kitchen, Xavier had felt like hiring the best chefs in the country to cook for them. Unfortunately, Yvette had refused to let him do it.
Gazing at the unsightly creation in the pot, she shuddered. If they had to eat food like this from now on, would they be able to survive?
"It's alright, we'll get a nanny to cook."
Hannah didn't have time to prepare meals because she had to look after Viola. Yvette had been the one cooking and cleaning the house as of late. She had set aside working on writing songs for now. Xavier was oddly obedient. "Okay."
"You can stop cooking now. We'll order takeout later."
Yvette heaved a sigh. When would she get through these hard times? When would Xavier regain his memories?
She headed to the living room, wanting to lie down. Just then, Cynthia Doyle, her personal assistant, called. "Boss, any new songs lately?"
"Not yet. Why?"
"I've just received a huge order. A big name specifically wanted one of your new songs."
Yvette frowned. "A full buyout?" She didn't favor those. If the song was bought, she wouldn't have ownership over it anymore.
"Yeah, he's willing to buy it at a sky-high price."
"There's no need for that." Yvette rejected it straight away. She wasn't
short on money.
"Alright, I'll let them know. Boss, have you been facing any trouble lately? Why aren't the songs ready yet?" Cynthia was curious.
Yvette was a workaholic who had once made three songs that had gone viral overnight. She was now critically acclaimed in the industry
The superstars who had sung those songs had wanted to meet her privately. Yet, she had refused, saying, "It's enough that everyone likes it. There's no need to pursue the creator behind it." Thinking about Cynthia's words, Yvette gazed at Xavier. He had just come out of the kitchen, looking disheveled.
He had a tall figure and a reserved demeanor. Yet, he had lost his memory, become blind, and undergone a complete change in personality overnight.
It was such a burden for her.
